I'm going to quote an older poster that replied to my topic a long time ago. And the story goes something like this. One cook in the front line was making omelette for the troops, one of the egg shells went to his eye thus going to the aid station. The Medic put in a field report that goes something like: "Removed shell fragment in eye from the cook." Two weeks later a Purple Heart arrived just for the cook! On another favorite quote, I'm going to pull out a scene from Band of Brothers. I don't even know if this dialogue even took place, but one of the SS Soldiers kept saying that they were Polish, then Sgt. Johnny Martin replied, "There's no Polish in the SS!" -GINO -- "God Bless and God Speed to our Boys who are now overseas."

"We want to get the hell over there. The quicker we clean up this Goddamned mess, the quicker we can take a little jaunt against the purple pissing Japs and clean out their nest, too. Before the Goddamned Marines get all of the credit." - General George S. Patton, Jr (addressing to his troops before Operation Overlord, June 5, 1944)

It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived Gen. Patton

Wake Island?-Colonel or was it Major Poindexter was one of the names you seek.Another was Marine pilot Putnam. However, nobody on Wake actually did say ''Send us more Japs!'' although it's a wonderful line.
