Walter Guinness, Lord Moyne (of the Irish brewing family) British Resident Commissioner for the Middle East is assassinated by two gunmen from the Zionist Lehi organization (the Stern Gang). Even with a war on, and the major Jewish organizations siding with the British and the Allies, there are those who use such times to further their political ends. The assassination causes repercussions by the British against the Jewish desire for increased immigration of displaced Jews from Europe to Pallestine. An interesting sidenote: Lord Moyne was instrumental in the arrest and incarceration during WW2 of his ex-daughter-in-law, Diana, who left her husband (Lord Moyne's son) to marry Oswald Mosley, the British fascist and raving anti-Semite.
