Batman

In my humble opinion, Batman would get my vote as the greatest superhero, even though he isn't a "superhero" at all.
Looking at the character, his motivation is instantly understood; his moodiness and drive makes for serious character development and action, not to mention some interesting psyhcological profiles. The "tone" of the character, actually the writing, remains constant and true to form.
Through the years, the character of Batman has been flexible, and able to change with the times; from dark, to kid-friendly, fatherly, campy, then animated/cartoony, and all the way back to gritty and dark, all the while maintaining the intergral character, and consistently great writing and artwork.
Also, many kudos have to go to DC Comics, for being willing to take chances with the character in many different incarnations.
Superman is the first; he's realiable, stable and almost comforting, but Batman has the creative edge that makes for a more interesting character.

I think that the animated version of Batman is the one that I like best. I am not talking about the one that appeared on Scooby Doo, I am thalking about the one that they have out now. In that they show the real reason why Batman is "Batman". I also like the first movie. The rest got back to the Adam West era :(. Which made Batman look stupid. I would like to see one more Batman by Tim Robbins.

aside from the tv-era batman (1966-68),the dark knight has always been the most respectable and durable of comic heroes. An intelligent man driven by inner demons, here is an individual who could have gone either way (good or evil). I've always enjoyed the character's resourcefulness, and the bits of tragic irony that make his adventures so much more enjoyable than that "other" character with a cape who he sometimes teams up with.

It amuses me that no one has picked up on the fact that Batman & Robin might be lovers. There was a time when an older man living with a younger man referred to each other as "uncle" & "nephew."
I know that when I was young that was certainly my impression.

Yeah, TroutPencil, Chris Nolan and company did a great job. I hear all the cast & crew are on board for the next installment.
