The Pres

I am not being petty but this dose bug me, did anyone read the article about President Obama's salute at the airfield when he was seeing the returning dead service men or all the ones he has rendered as he comes off Air Force One?.

I remember something Omar Bradley said about civilians saluting at different ceremonies, " it is a honor that should be reserved for military and ex-military, they earned it". To my, (limited ), knowledge President Obama has never serviced in the armed forces.

I know he the CIC but I don't think that makes it OK and it is not a requirement.. I know John John did it at his fathers funeral but he was just a child.

I thought you had been in the military. If you remember your saluting ediquet when a subordinent salutes his superior he must hold that salute until it is returned. If Obama didn't return those salutes as he came off AF1, those troops would be holding their salutes for a long, long ,time.

That is for military, to salute the president is a form of respect, he is saluted at many functions and dose not return them and once he has past the salute may be dropped.

Not all MK, Bush was X-military, good or bad, Clinton didn't, Nixon and many more . Most just wave at the cameras, the point is the salute for the most part was an action between solider's in most cases to show they were not armed, but between solider's not civilians.

I to have reservations about it also, but never forget your chain of command gentilmen he is the commander in chief and warrent's a salute, right, wrong, good , bad or indifferent. That whole thing was just a photo op.
