My friend Magua thinks maybe there'd be no Cajun music in Louisiana, this could be tragic if true. So, are you thinking France's position in North America would remain strong during this period?Or would inevitable westward expansion into the Ohio & Midwest renew tensions. With it's greater population in North America, Britain could not be held back indefinitely. Win or lose the costs of the conflict would still have to borne as increased taxes to the colonies, who in turn would still resent them give the freedoms they'd grown accustom too. Then again perhaps they would feel less resentful as subjects to the king paying their share of the burden for protection against the French, at least for the time being -- Bier; Die Ursache und die Lösung für alle Probleme des Lebens.

Well if the British had to cede all their territory then France would be able to dominate more territory than Britain ever possesed in North America. The ring of territory would have closed over the coastal territory of Great Britain. Gaining them inportant ports and strengthing their Empire. It would have had effects in India also, perhaps giving the French the strength and confidence to dislodge the British from their Indian territory and instate a tame French puppet leader as they tried to do before the seven years war. Interesting topic...

Thirteen British colonies remaining loyal for starters. Colonists were relieved of the danger posed by France by French defeat in the Seven Years War. The consequences of French defeat could still have been averted. It was predicted by not a few in Britain's Parliament, prior to the American Revolution, that unless Canada was restored to France with all due expediency (instead of Guadeloupe as actually happened) then the colonists, freed from fear of French attack would, as a matter of course, seek to establish their own constitution. Their prediction was correct. Britain, like Rachel of old, still deeply mourns for what was lost and cannot be comforted. It's about time, therefore, that the illegal and vicarious Declaration of Independence is torn up and thirteen states returned to their rightful sovereign. Into my heart an air that kills From yon far country blows: what are those blue remembered hills. What spires, what farms are those? This is the land of lost content, I see it shining plain. The happy highways where I went And cannot come again.

Nah, he knows it woulda never worked out, he's just singin' the Englishman's blues. Can't blame them, looks like they'll be jilted by Scotland as well fairly soon here. At least they've got the faithful Welsh, and there's the Ulster step-child as well, but I don't think they'd cry so much over a break-up there. -- "On n’est pas comme ça"

Yeah a recent poll aparently showed that more Scottish people than not would favour Scotland withdrawing from the Union. That would certainly stir things up! The Welsh , I don't think, really care what happens whether they are part of the U.K or not. As for the North I think the regions that want to join the republic (The mostly Catholic areas) should be allowed. After all if they want to join the sovreign region of the Island they should be allowed to. I know their are those who would disagree so I'm up for debate

I've seen those poles too. It really seems to depend on how the question is presented as the the number of those in favor or against. I'm curious what it is that people really think they'll get out of it-independence.. You have to weigh the pro's & con's with the possibilities, and then factor in the consequences. What expectations are realistic? Alas for worse or better these things often breakdown to pride & emotions. -- "On n’est pas comme ça"
