US History and expansion oversea

If we call anything else than the land between Mexico and Canada "oversea" (including Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico nad other islands) I find them a bit "unknown" relative to the "mainland". About the later at least there is well known myths and fiction (one example westerns) -well known by many of us from far away. On the other hand I have an impression the wideranging expansion movements and other involvements overseas is - with some exceptions (mainly world wars, Vietnam) much less known, not least from fiction (books, movie, TV). Is it only that we outside do not know about it, or is fewer interested in it?

"Is it only that we outside do not know about it, or is fewer interested in it?" Your post is sort of unclear. Maybe thats why our beer-drinking pal can't make sense of it either. I'm going to go out on a limb and take a guess your not a reader? And you don't watch much educational television? And you don't hang out with anyone who reads and educates themselves? The world is "Outside" is very well documented through every possible medium you can think of. If one is truly interested, one can find out anything. Your post is baffling and myopic.
