Five guys beat me up and robbed me in Springfield, Missouri

Apr 11, 2009 10:56 AM
Last year five guys beat me up and robbed me in Springfield, Missouri. I was walking to my motel room at about 1:30 a.m. after leaving a bar. Five guys ran up to me and asked for cigarettes. I only had two cigarettes on me at the time, and I gave one away to them. They all started following me around as I was walking, and one of them asked, "Are you from around here?" I was just starting to say, "No, I'm from Huntsville, Alabama" when one of them punched me out of the blue before I could finish the sentence. Then all five of them started punching me in the head. After taking about ten punches in two or three seconds, I feel on the ground to my hands and knees. They lifted each of my arms up and took my backpack off my back. I stood up, and one of them punched me in the back. Then I started begging them to give me my backpack back. I told them that there were only clothes in the backpack. Then one of them said, "Give me your money." I took out my wallet and gave them all the money in my wallet ($13), and then all five of them ran off. I had blood all over my face, but it didn't physically hurt very badly right after I was mugged. The next morning, my head didn't hurt that badly, but my back hurt extremely severely. My back pain was excruciatingly agonizing, and I could not drive back home for three days, and I could not work for a week.

Wow, times is hard. Sounds like nicotine addiction has become a serious problem in America. What if they just made tobacco legal in your country, wouldn't it be safer for everyone? Whodda thunk the recession would lead to this!

Does the suffering of others always strike you as a source of entertainment?

"Does the suffering of others always strike you as a source of entertainment?" Not really, how about you? It's more like my sense of the absurd was triggered.

So a packin' a fire arm is the solution?

Sounds like the wild west. Better stay paranoid or I guess "ever vigilante" would be a more acceptable term; you know, unless they take the gun along with them smokes too--a decent nine like a P99 aint cheap either.! And then, have you been to the shops lately? I mean the 9mm, .40, .45 ammo veritably leaps of the shelf. Even the ubiquitous 7.62 varieties are getting kinda scarce. Oh well I guess it's just the law of supply & demand at work. Still I have wonder what it is we're all thinkin' we're headed toward?

Hey that is a story to tell your kid teach him wisdom and how you could handle it next time and you should have known if they were following you they were going to do something.
