Why Air Force Gravity Surveys near Area-51 1980's

I was a Geodetic Surveyor in the Air Force performing Gravity Surveys near Area-51 in the early 80's. We were out of FE Warren AFB, dressed in civilian clothes, and worked w/ a private commercial helicopter company. We also performed doppler position surveys near 51 as well. We stayed in Baker and Alamo Nevada and worked west of Rachel and in other areas. We were even chased away by a fighter jet for getting too close. We created gravity loops over several miles in that area and I was wondering if anyone could shed any light on what our work was really for. I had a secret security clearance at the time and had no contact with the base at area 51 at all. In fact we were not even aware that the base was there. All we knew was that we were near Nellis AFB and that they had a bombing range there. I would also like to get a hold of anyone in the cast of UFO Hunters to discuss my experiences in more detail if they were interested. I would appreciate it if someone could either direct them to this message and have them respond or place me in contact with them directly. Best, G-ravity

When you say gravity loop... Are you referring to a series of photos? I'm not a Geologist, but to my knowledge, a gravity survey can be used to determine what rock types are in the area? This could be related to nuclear testing in some way, or the study of the fallout of nuclear testing. It's been fairly well known that radiation seeping through the rock strata in the area from the past testing has been a problem. I assume they probably wouldn't want to shout that kind of stuff from the rooftops. Bottom line is that we did some horrific things in that and other areas, involving nuclear testing... with very little understanding of what the long term consequences would be... Things which looking back now, I think a lot of people realize were probably a big mistake.

I was a US Air Force Geodedtic Surveyor responsible for performing gravity surveys near groom lake back in the early 80's. We were out of FE Warren AFB in Cheyenne WY. We dressed in civilian clothes and worked w/ a private helicopter company. We did gravity loops and doppler position surveys (pre GPS) near Rachel, Alamo and Baker Nevada. I had a secret clearance and at one time our helicopter was chased off by a fighter jet near 51. We were told that the data we were collecting was for the proposed MX-Missile program. For those of you who are interested; a Gravity loop consisted of a specified distance (generally over several miles in length) that started and ended at the same point. Specific gravity readings were obtained by pre-determined points along the way by scientific instruments known at the time as gravimeters (sic.) made by Lacoste and Rhomberg (sic.) . These instruments very sensitive and measured specific gravity for that specific pre-determined point. I am looking for any information explaining why gravity readings and latitude / longitude positions were required so close to 51. And would like to see if the UFO Hunters would contact me to discuss my experiences more in depth and provide me w/ an explanation of why I was there and for what purpose.

Sounds interesting... I'd be interested to talk about it further. But like many people here... when they ask for answers to something, I sense they are actually looking for a specific answer that they would prefer to hear... Not just any answer. So I guess I'll stop now and leave that to someone else. I'm sure they'll oblige.
