if you havent seen this, its larry king live there are 5 parts where witness from roswell saw aliens and a ufo and bill nye a scientist talks to them and argues that roswell was fake and it was a weather balloon!
he also argues with edgar mitchell and earl fulford and more military pilots and damn! he pisses me off!!

And why does it anger you so much that a scientist would be skeptical of an event such as Roswell?
They have put forth the explanation of Roswell being a top secret military test called Project Mogul, where it was explained that it very well could have been a weather balloon. No matter what though, people just keep accusing the military of covering up the fact that aliens crashed there.
I don' t know about you, but the Project Mogul explanation seems like the most likely explanation to me. Remember Occam's Razor: the explanation which makes the least assumptions is usually the best explanation. The explanation that it was an alien crash assumes quite a few things, none of which have been proven, so it really can't be put forth as the most likely explanation.

What bothered me about Bill Nye's participation in this discussion was that he had no background in this field, hadn't looked at any data, but basically had a blanket "no" response to everything. I like Bill Nye the Science Guy, but I didn't like seeing such a reactionary stance from a place of ignorance. The Larry King Show just needed a "science type" to go on-air and say "no," and that's what they got. I felt the witnesses were far more credible because they spoke from experience. Just my two cents.

How do you know Bill Nye never looked at any data? He's a scientist, that is what they do. I'm sure he has looked into the subject enough to be able to make a science-based response to Roswell.

Well, according to the commentators who consider themselves "skeptics" and "debunkers" on this forum you have to have a Ph.D. in Physics in order to have any credibility so that means Bill Nye's comments, statements, evaluations and opinions are all false.

What was so top secret about Project Mogul? We can't put up listening devices over our own territory? Plus Mogul was a stupid idea in the first place. A bunch of ballooons that had to keep within a non-existent pocket of slow moving sound waves in the atmosphere? Not! Seismic waves, yes. Mogul, dumb. Lasted all of two years before they figured out it was a waste of money. Big secret!

Sorry, but you don't tell your enemy you can listen in to their testing. Any more then you would tell them you could listen to their communications, had copies of their equipments, or had a spy in their headquarters.

What I've never understood is why the people that believe in Roswell keep saying the governement changed it's story repeatedly. There were like two changes, half a century apart.
But at the same time these believers have no problem with every book about it having a different place, different witnesses, different details, and the whole story changing regularly.

Don, these were huge explosions that were easily picked up by seismic monitors. Which of course we figured out after Mogul turned out to be a bust. If you read into the idea behind Mogul you will laugh hysterically, I promise! Even the Soviets would laugh. Great cover for a crash though.

Don, read the concept behind Mogul. It is a hoot. Guy who studies deep ocean currents and sound thinks he can find a similar place in atmospheric conditions. Because, you know, air and water are so similar. But balloons have to stay in this perfect pocket so intricate dance of ballast and boost must be done remotely. They spent too much money on this idea until they realized that seismic monitors could do the job much cheaper and accurately. Mogul supposedly lasted 2 years. '47-49 Boy, I bet the Generals were laughing their heads off that at least the waste of rubber and plastic was good for one thing.
