They were the stars of their time.History channel did a program on some bodies they found that they believed were Roman Gladiators. In fact they had the names and tombstones of one or two of them. They studied the remains and found that they were fed very well,no meat a veggan diet. They were also very well taken care of when and if they got hurt. The healing of broken bones showed that the medical was on par if not better than ours. When they died, they were celebrated. They believe that most if not all the medical done on them was done by a famous Roman doctor. This doctor was way ahead of his time,he was doing brain surgery back then.Gladiators had a hard life, but they were rewarded for it by living well, eating well and being well taken care of.They had to go to school to learn to be a gladiator. And it was not always kill or be killed.Being a gladiator was on par to being the best athlete today.Except, gladiators knew how to take care of thier bodies and minds. No steroids for these men, they did'nt need them.
