THE SHOW IS BACK!!!!

Jul 9, 2008 4:29 PM
Mrs Murial Dinwiddy and myself are delighted to announce that episodes 5,6,7, and 8 of Surviving History will be shown on Saturday afternoon (July 12) 2-6 and episode 9 on Sunday of the following week. It seems the person who schedules these programmes feels we can keep track of 4 different time slots. Mrs Dinwiddly knows the person well and can confirm that they are a heavy drinker, a slovenly timekeeper, not physically engaging, and a simpleton to boot.No wonder there are so many shows about Nostradamus. He at least has a head start on the rest of us poor souls.

The episodes on 7-12 from 2-6 are just re-runs of what they have already shown...

History Channel dropped the ball on this one... Not just dropped it but ran over it, looked at it, then ran over it again!!!!

I stopped watching HC so much because of the redundancy of thier programming then they had something that was bang on!!!!!

I WANT MY SHOW BACK!!!!!

Hello Chelbie, Mts Dinwiddy and myself are almost never wrong apart from that time we tried to finger train wasps. If you look as the History master schedule I think you will find that these episode descriptions are of five new ones and not repeats. Originally the Saturday shows were scheduled as repeats. The person operating the web site for the show and the scheduler have run off together to start an aphid farm. May be History will turn it into a series.

Mrs Davenport and Mrs Dimwitty, you have made me a happy, happy girl with that information! I almost had given up and did not look at the master schedule. I shall consider you both as my "Fairy Godmothers"!!!

Thank you very much for the information (even though I will miss part of it due to an event I have to be at from noon to 3pm)!!!!

If I grow up, I want to be just like you!!! Except for the wasps. I'm not a fan of flying, stinging things. I'm more of a dog person.

So, are you sure this was just a special and not a series?

There are total of 9 episodes. They call it a series. The ones airing tomorrow are supposed to be all new. Lets see what actually airs.

Personally, I think it would be a HUGE mistake to let this only go 9 episodes. I think it is much cooler than Modern Marvels,(which more and more is becoming a totally different series,Engineering Disasters.
There must be at least a dozen of those episodes by now) as well as more entertaining and enjoyable.

If you can get a second season out of Ice Road Truckers, I don't see why you couldn't get at least 3 out of Surviving History.

Human beings are so creative, especially in ways to kill and maim each other, there are many, many devices that could keep this show going for years.

I agree that it would be a mistake not to continue this series. As for Modern Marvels, those are more like subseries.

How excited Mrs Dinwiddy and myself were to see four of these wonderful shows back to back. We drank a whole bottle of gin and laughed out loud so much Mrs Dinwiddy exhibited slight wind. There is the final show next Sunday morning at 8. am. We are hoping that lovely spoken English historian will at least take some of his kit off. Mrs Dinwiddy experiences hot flushes when she hears him!!!

That was great!!!!! Even though I missed half of them due to having to be at an event and had no way to get out of being at...

Mrs. Davenport and Mrs Dimwitty, the more you esteemed ladies post, the more intrigued I am.... I love Dr Who (again another show that I love but no longer get to see, well, Sci-Fi has the new one on but it does not grab me the way the orginal Doctors did)...

Hope to much much more of these guys.... Sure the the BritiProf seems like a cute little guy but I find that the machismo of Kermit (a fine german name, I'm such a sucker) quite alluring!!!!

I watched a big chunk of the block of four shows this afternoon. It's an interesting concept, carried out with ingenuity and enthusiasm. The fact that so many of the devices are tools of torture is a bit sensational, but the fact that the crew from ScareFactory who research and build the devices then "model" them, takes the edge off. It's clear that their reactions are very reflective of how most of us would respond to undergoing such ordeals. I give the show a B+ and hope it has legs.

I'm sorry History Channel doesn't do better in supporting it. This website is a joke. The homepage still headlines "New Thursday Night Time." Right. Neither the episode guide, the image gallery nor the video clips have been updated. I'm glad the guys at Scarefactory care more about the substance of the show than the History Channel cares about its promotion. I've never been much of a fan of History Channel, because, frankly, there is so little history on it. Is this kind of indifference to shows and viewers typical?

They sometimes take a while to update the webpages, but they do it eventually. I saw the last half hour of the block, and it was good. I hope they keep it up and make another season.

Dear Chelbie, We see you were grabbed by the old doctors. Mrs Dinwiddy was grabbed by a doctor in 1973 and the AMA had to severely discipline him. Kermit we agree has a certain rugged charm and machismo. Mrs Dinwiddy and myself once met him in a biker bar in Columbus, Ohio and we can report he has a way with the ladies. Some nice people from the BBC have asked us to put together a little series of our own. They want to film it over here so we are starting soon. Mrs Dinwiddy is very excited...may be she can have a 'hot' scene with Kermit?
The last episode of the show is next Sunday at 8.am.
