Bravo History Channel! This show helps to answer the question "I wonder what it was like to..." (fill in the blanks with any number of gruesome scenarios).

Shows like this are what brings history to life. It is not all names and dates. Far from it. It is the greatest story ever told, and I'm glad that people are finally discovering how very interesting it truly is.

People have got to learn to toughen up a bit. If you don't like the gore, don't watch. But it gives an intriguing look back into how things must have appeared and happened to those who lived centuries ago.

P.S. The Scare Factory rocks!

I saw this show for the first time last night. I loved it. It reminded me of Modern Marvels, one of my favorite shows when it's one I have not seen.

I thought this show was very well done. It made me feel distinctly uncomfortable (even a bit sick to my stomach) and I could certainly feel my adrenalin kicking in and my body tensing up, which I think was the whole point. I thought the show did an outstanding job of conveying the heinous nature of these devices, human nature, and the human mind. I thought it was an extremely vivid (that's not to say gratuitously graphic), extremely affecting show! And I learned more about history than I knew yesterday, so that's always good. Great job, History Channel, and great job Scarefactory!

Yeah, that part was funny, even though she was scared out of wits.

"I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry, and that's extra scary to me. There's a large out of focus monster roaming the countryside. Look out, he's fuzzy, let's get out of here." -Mitch Hedberg

No need to shout. History usually puts the shows out on DVD not long after a season is over, but don't expect many extra features; I rented a History DVD on netflix: it was just the show and nothing else.

My first reaction to hearing about the show was "Nice! I love learning about history on the History Channel!"

This show was pretty amazing! For the team members to actual build the devices themselves without instructions and then test them out...Wow! I was both fascinated and horrified at the same time.

History channel =
10% vague and/or conflicting historical episodes,
50% UFO/Bigfoot conspiracies,
40% reality TV entertainment

Uh...
I like Modern Marvels, MonsterQuest, Surviving History, and a lot of the specials that the channel does. I don't tend to watch UFO Files or anything like that. I'll watch Ice Road Truckers, but not Axe Men.

I love seeing what everyone has written about the show! I see that Wes (and some others) have left comments. I think you guys did a great job, and it looked extremely grueling, all the work you did but it turned out great! and I have to say that one of my favorite characters is Brian Shoaf aka "wolverine brian". And one of my favorite episodes is the Judas Cradle episode (hasn't aired yet I don't think) with Wes, and the one with the ducking stool, which has some funny parts and some good interview bites. I actually laughed out loud at a few of them. I hope everyone likes the show, I loved being an assistant editor on it! The only thing is that history toned everything down as much as they could, but I really wish they had left in more of the guy's personalities and made it slightly more character driven, but I guess you have to cut some of that to squeeze all the historical stuff in there. Oh, and Historian Keith=hilarious.

I've enjoyed reading what people have to say about the show =)
