Sandhogggggggggggggggs R Hottttttttttttt!!!!!!
& what they do on a day to day basis makes them HOTTERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

Its hard to beleive that these men are just regular citizens like you and me when they come out of the tunnels. All new yorkers should respect sandhogs just as we respect the NYPD and the FDNY (well most new yorkers respect them the NYPD & FDNY) Sandhogs ARE NEW YORK HISTORY!!

P.S. that anthony gets too much air time & doesnt shut up! He shouldnt even be on the "Meet the sandhogs" page b/c he is a waste of space, you will know what i mean on the next episode...... watch it!

You know, I am getting sick and tired of people like you calling these shows reality shows. You wouldn't know a "reality" show if it slapped you in the head.

"The Apprentice"
"Toughest Jobs in America"
"Survivor"
"Man vs Wild"
"I Want to Work for P. Diddy"
"American Idol"
just to name a few are the what the genre "reality shows" are in their classic form.

You would have maybe a group of 6 people get together in pairs or as individuals and they would eat strange stuff and dare each other to do strange or very difficult things. Then one-by one they would vote an individual or pair off the show or the Mod would decide who was going to be eliminated one-by one until one person or pair was left.
That is a reality show in it original form.
Where the idea that seeing real people doing real jobs got to be called "reality" shows I don't know.
If you're going to call something a "reality" show, then I think you need to get your facts straight as to what one is.

What these guys are doing IS history in the making regardless of what people like you think and guess what ? HC is NOTgoing to return to its former incarnation just to suit a few elitists.

you are one hundred percent correct in what you just said If you people don't think this is history here is the def, of history for you

History is a chronological record of significant events (as affecting a nation or institution) often including an explanation of their causes b : a treatise presenting systematically related natural phenomena.
For example the sandhogs blasted into the old tunnel from 100 years ago and it was made of brick two layers thick it was done all by hand. Today we have machines to help us. 100 years ago everything was done by hand. This tunnel will bring clean filtered water into NYC To help with the population of NYC. Think how they did it 100 years ago how did they get clean drinking water. Also The subway tunnel they are making will make it for easier transportation for Hundreds of thousands of people to commute to work shop etc. How did they get from place to place 100 years go by horse and buggy EX. )So if you people don't know the Definition Do you want the history channel to highlight all the old 100 years ago information to you or dont you know your history at all.
What these guys are doing will make for a better FUTURE for all. That is what history is a series of events to benefit the future.

Hi Sonrisa- SANDHOGS is classified on the "TMZ" (Thirty Mile Zone) site as "DOCUMENTARY-REALITY"- and I think this is how Neilsen classifies it since this is where TMZ got the info.

Mitchflipped- What leads me to believe that SANDHOGS, IRT, AX MEN and on and on are not "history" is that, there are shows of the same format- and with the exception of SANDHOGS, the same producer- that are not pawned off by the channel they are on as "history".

The only reason these shows are "history" is because they are being pawned off by NON-HISTORY as "history"- watch the show because the subject interests you and for entertainment- but expect to get as much "history" of the Sandhogs , as I get the "history" of the Homicide Detective watching FIRST 48.

TB NYC-

You're right.....why is no one commenting on the shows? Who cares if it's history or not......it is what it is.

Question for the debaters- do you think it should have been a documentary or is there enough "material" to hold peoples' interest for 11 weeks? Some newspaper reviews seem to think that it should have been just a documentary...going into how the sandhogs started,
problems faced and conquered, etc. Don't know if non- hogs would be interested in 11 weeks?

Tonka- I would agree with the newspaper reviews that think it should have been a documentary- along the lines of a MODERN MARVELS- telling the history of Sandhogs.

Probably would hold my interest for 11 weeks- but a two or three hour special could tell the story just as well and would be my choice.

Are they digging right under the history channel's broadcasting building er what? Why? Gosh, I have tuned in and watched a few programs that I didnt care for but this one, with the sole exception of Ice Truckers, is the worst yet. In fact every time I see it getting ready to air, I run for chores or to do something that takes my boiling mind off the fact that my favorite channel has abandoned reasoned, rational true history- for some improvised present tense madness for a program hour long slot.
So cheers to you History, we love ya, indeed. But at this pace I smell competition coming.

I've watched only a few episodes of some of the History Channel's other shows, so can't vouch for their "historical content," and I agree that this show isn't really about the history of the Sandhogs, in the true sense of the word. But I do think it's informative and a real eye opener for the average Joe who knows nothing about Sandhogs and all the other folks working along with them.

My father was a Sandhog in WT3 for many years, so that's why I started watching the show. From what I've read on these boards, most of you are also watching because of your Sandhog family ties. If I was unfamilair with the occupation, I don't think this show would keep my attention for eleven episodes. Not slamming the show, just stating my opinion.

I knew this show was not going to come across well. "I've seen some of what they were filming and had a feeling they were going to show things that don't usually go on at the sites. The film crew went to the wrong guys to talk too. They asked the crews to do things for film that they shouldn't have done. Now the locals are commenting on each other. The truth is they all get along (most of the time) and when they don't it is taken care of by the bosses, supers, and hogs. There is no grand standing (Anthony) Its a very hard job and dangerous wish they would show how the tunnels got built and how the men work together and watch out for each other. The day to day things that come up and the crews solve.
We have a saying if "10 go down 10 come up" dosen't matter what union or who they are.
I"m glad to be part of their history and yes it is history.I have met many good friends and lost a few too.So as you watch the rest of the shows just see what they are doing and the hard work and pain they go through ,say a little prayer of thanks.

When did THE JERRY SPRINGER SHOW take over the production of the Sandhog series?

It was good up to now but the History (joke!) Channel has turned it into a LOW BUDGET- LOW RENT SOAP OPERA.

Maybe not JERRY SPRINGER but it sure is starting to look like a THOM BEERS production- drillbit !!!

I see by the latest promos that they have introduced the elements of stress, conflict and competition all to add more drama- look for the Sandhogs to start throwing their hard hats and tools- it's coming !!!

They signed with History before Discovery made there offer. I was also told they would have went with History if given a second chance. Much more money.
