Boston

Whoever is talking it's about time you learn who is in charge. It's all well and good about the old families that were Sandhogs in NY. But, you know what? It is now 2008 and Morgan is the man! I, along with my brother and many others worked with Morgan, who taught all of us all there was to know while working the "Big Dig". Yeah, we live in Boston, and we thank you for your federal tax money that helped build it, but it isn't about sports, it's about brotherhood. Whoever's wife keeps bitching about what happens in the tunnel - do you bitch when your husband brings home the check?

You are so right! It is about the brotherhood. My husband and I both know Morgan in and out of the work situation and he is a great guy. Some people should stop all of the yapping and try and learn something from this man.

Big Island Tunnel S.A. Healy/Modern Continental

Sep 16, 2008 10:48 PM
I worked with Morgan Curran and many other sandhogs of the Local 88 on Deer Island in Boston Harbor from 1991-1993. I was an engineer with S.A. Healy/Modern Continental. Can anyone tell me how this five mile tunnel turned out? Did they break through at Nut Island ok?

Morgan had earned the respect of men who have worked with him as well as those who have not. My husband has not had the pleasure to work directly with him, but talks very highly of the man's reputation as a class act. He took a chance on the young guy Anthony and it just didn't work out as he had planned. I certainly hope no one was referring to Morgan with their complaints regarding the first episode.

Boston is one of the recent projects that should be mentioned in the show. I know that quite a few guys from the city had to go to Boston to find work as when things were tight in NY.

Maybe some of the unemployed Boston Sandhogs would be of use in NY, also? Mrs. Sandpiggy, did your husband come to Boston?

BigDaddy whats up dude? I cant believe Morgan's on TV, that's crazy. Go to NY and slap Anthony around , will ya.
No need for a greenhorn to go around getting in peoples faces. Give him a "muckstick "and have him clean the "piss ditch "from the heading to the shaft.

Hey BigIsland Tunnel,
my husband was out at Nut Island for a bit, then went in town. not really sure about how well if they broke through. man that job was a killer, the whole project and everything that modern was involved in. meaning that it was rough work for everyone involved.

Hey Tonka Toy -

Hey Johnny, what's up? Is the Lacrosse net still intact? I live in Hull, I moved back two years ago - we are listed. Give me a call, we still have beers available in the garage, as long as you are still able to leave the money.

BostonRelocated,

I realize there were a lot of people on the job at Nut Island. What did your husband do out at Nut and what is his name?

As an engineer for Healy/Modern, I was responsible for keeping the tunnel alignment, so when the breakthrough took place (long after I left the project in 1993) I always wondered if the two ends met! hahaha (no laughing matter I suppose if they didn't).
