i think it's about time the M16 has been in service for a while and is showing it's age even with all the modifications they have made over the years the M16 and M4 are still loaded with problems the Xm8
(lord will soon to be M8) is loaded with great ideas the red dot sight the semi transparent clamping mags the ability to change stocks and barrels and ability to take a 100 round drum all adds up to the solders next best friend it is what has been needed for years and i am glad to see it's finally here

Yeah i've got see the videos of it. I still think the M4 is a great gun though but the xm8 is what r guys need

I do tend to agree that it looks great and I definitely love of how it is four guns in one but the one thing that is a true let down is that it fires 5.56mm rounds and not 7.62mm rounds. I live on a marine corps base and all the marines that I have talked to have all told me the exact same thing and I quote "That over in Iraq and Afghanistan the insurgents will shoot themselves up with drugs like ppc before they fight so they feel and act like there almost invincible and it takes us around one to one and a half clips of 5.56 ammo just to drop one insurgent." If H&K wants the XM8 to succeed in the firepower catagory then they need to make the XM8 fire 7.62mm.

I love the xm8 and will do anything to get one. Does anyone know where I should start looking to get one? Are they possible to get in anyway? Thank you anyone

I don't think HK is releasing it to the civilian market
Aside from the top carrying handle it looks nice.
From what I can find, it sounds like a development of the G36 and the M16.

The XM8 looks like a great gun but has its ups and downs like round size (Stopping Power). Its going to have problems just like the M16 or M4. But it has 4 guns it can turn into saving money and perks like longer barrel 100 round drum red dot etc. So i think it will be a great gun but still have complications.
