Have you had an experience, while awake, where you saw yourself from outside of your body? If you did, had you ingested any chemicals before the experience?

Hi, Tell,

No, I have never had an OOBE, induced or otherwise. I think I came close once, when I'd consumed too much Highland Grog coffee (man is that stuff good!) at a local coffee shop while I was hosting a poetry reading. I stood up to introduce the next poet, and felt like I was leaving my body (that is, I felt like I was continuing upwards once I had reached the standing position. It lasted a fraction of a second, then all was back to normal. Although several people were watching me, no one noticed me jerking or otherwise behaving strangely...well, any more strangely than I normally do. ;^)

I cannot recall ever seeing myself in dreams, either (well, body parts like hands and feet, yes, but not my face, not even in a reflection).

Hello bhbb

I had one experience that stands out. Years ago I had taken some LSD and then went for a stroll around Manhattan Beach. As I walked I met a friend and a stranger who was with him. As we talked I began to realize I was watching us talk from a position that was above my head. The position was at first just a couple feet above my head but then rose to about 6 or 7 feet above my head. For a second or two I was surprised and wondered if I should worry about this experience, but then I noticed my friend did not seem to be reacting to seeing anything strange happening, so I relaxed and began to more closely examine the experience I was having. I noticed that I seemed to have two consciousnesses. One was carrying on a conversation and the other was watching from above. I could go back and forth between the two at will. Then I began to wonder if I could reunite with my body, so I returned just as my conversation with my friend was coming to an end, and the watcher self just merged with my body. Later I asked my friend if he had noticed anything odd when we met on the street corner. He told me he hadn't.

I wondered if the self that experiences dreams was separate from my awake self, and I was simultaneously experiencing reality and a dream that happened to be fed by information from the immediate present.

They are different Telly. Have you never stepped back in to your self from a dream?

Long ago under a different moon I was called back to my self from a dream. There I was in a fight againist 3 others. I grabbed one and it was like grabbing a 'sheet' I tied it to a tree. I grabbed anonther and knew it to be an enemy and it too was like a sheet, i cast it away in ball of flames. The 3rd was easy, it could not escape, I tied it to the tree that held the other, the other I released as it was a decoy of the enemy. Maybe a week later a woman who had given me something at a show gave me a pouch ....

"please keep this and please let me go"

I pictured her tied to the tree~!

"I will keep this, but will not let you go"

In the pouch was a stone that looks very much like a sapphire. She has helped with my business over the years ... i have never let her go. And in my dreams visit her at the tree, I think she has learned to like me ....

Or may be it was oxygen deprivation, you experiened, LSD has been known to cause this

In your dream is she still tied to the tree, or does she just wait for you there? Did you tell the woman about your dream, and, if so, how did she react?

She is captive.

No never did tell her, I did ask what she meant by 'please let me go \' years later, but she didn't remember saying that, but does remember giving me the stone, and said it was impulsive mistake. And would like it back. There may be some value to it, so I am holding on to it.

But enough about me, do you think that you may have had an hallucination? Were you connected by a string? Which you was you? Or that if you could be in two places at once that the biblical Jewish God, or some other deity was giving you a look see what you know?

>> do you think that you may have had an hallucination?<<

If it was then it was different from the typical LSD hallucinations, because instead of me seeing images that were not real, I was looking at myself from outside of my body.

>> Were you connected by a string?<<

I do not recall seeing any string.

>> Which you was you?<<

I had to be the one in my body having a conversation with my friend. Although the view from the elevated position "seemed" to be real, I have nothing to indicate that it wasn't imagined.

>> if you could be in two places at once that the biblical Jewish God, or some other deity was giving you a look see what you know?<<

When it happened I was into Zen and exploring Eastern religions.

Very well Telly, just remember how easy it was to return to your self or leave, you never know when and how that will come in handy.

For sure the day will come when you step out and look at your self and realize there ain't no going back, then take a sec' and pick a place to go.

I am not sure what you mean by that. Are you implying that I should perhaps go haunt the Playboy Mansion? B-)

Are you assuming that I may be in a coma and my subconscious or imaginary self may be the only self I have left? Do you imagine my imaginary self going to some other worldly location or to some places in my memories or to some imagined places?

I already have the place staked out, it's a double E ticket in the next life.

Yeah, who knows what dreams will come.
