Back in the day the Washington Square Arch was covered with "CIA Killed JFK" posters. They'd get steam cleaned off, and they'd come back again. Probably a million or millions of tourists photographed the arch posters and all.
Finally Mayor Koch sent a top squad of detectives to track down the posterers. I think it was a homicide squad or Special Victims. Find them they did.
Ever since then the arch has been cordoned off.
