This show sparked my interest in Archaeology.

It showed me that Archaeologists on the whole cannot agree about much, it also showed me that Archaeologists have personal agendas and many search only for things they wish to find. It also gives me the scary feeling that some of what is discovered is suppressed and possibly destroyed or labeled as fake a little too quickly and easily, and usually for political or religion related purposes. I like the host, even though he too seems to have an agenda, he doesn't seem to be afraid of finding things he doesn't seek, or accepting things he finds that don't necessarily agree with his own agenda. He also isn't afraid to poke his nose in where it's not welcome in order to learn new things. He might not be perfect, but he does have the kind of courage and curiosity it takes to make discoveries. I do believe he's in the right business. One more thing this show did for me. It got me interested in ancient Egypt somewhat and the line of Pharoahs that ruled it and I made a discovery of my own, and that is that most of them were every bit as shamelessly self promoting and truth stretching as P.T. Barnum. Almost every one of them crowed louder about his own acheivments than a stumping politician and their description of their deeds and daring-do reads more like a Superman comic than a historical document. I get the feeling that all of these Pharoahs weren't exactly as marvellous as they painted themselves.

I really like this show and have begun reading about History, Archeology and the like as well. I particularly like the show on Exodus that I saw last night. some of the theories Simon claimed as new I had heard before but never put together the way he did. Really fun stuff!
