From my understanding of the layout of the first (Solomon's) temple, it would be impossible for it to have been where the Dome of the Rock is. My understanding is that, in those times there would have been tunnels or catacombs underneath the temple for the priests and storage. If it where the same place there would be those underneath it. From what I have seen and read there aren't any tunnels or catacombs there, but east of the Western wall. Which would place the temple where the horse is supposed to have stood that the romans erected supposedly on the same spot as the grove in between the Dome of the Rock and Al Aqsa Mosque. Also from my understanding there were found tunnels under the same spot. One part was very large and at the end of the tunnel which should have been under the Holy of Holies or Sanctum Sanctorum. Does this sound like anything you have heard?

The Haram esh Sharif is the site of the Roman fort , Antonia (IMHO). The temple was completely demolished but originally stood over the Gihon Spring in the city of David..This is the only scenario that reconciles scripture, Josephus, and multiple eyewitness accounts before 1000AD.
