Can anyone point me to specific passages that reference tunnels .....

I have been reading for the last month and cannot for the life of me find any references to the tunnels or secret chambers that are located beneath the Temple Mount/Solomon's Temple).
Various writers just say that 'according to the Bible, King Solomon or more recent Kings made a lowering platform to hide the Ark during times of conflict'. That is paraphrasing their exact words.
I know there are extensive networks of tunnels and chambers beneath it, however, I cannot find ANY related Biblical passage that mentions chambers or tunnels.
Can anyone clarify this?
I am using three Bible's (NIV-ASV-KJ) and none mention anything more than 'a foundation'
I am assuming that something like that did exist when either the 1st or 2nd Temple was built/re-built unless stated otherwise.
