Message Boards Announcement
Dear History members:

In February, 2010, History boards will begin the process of upgrading our community message board software. We are moving to a new community software, KickApps, that will provide greater functionality and ease of use. This transition will take place during the last part of February; the last day that the current boards will be available to you will be Feb. 28, 2010.

We realize that many of you have posted great content over the years and might want to save your posts. Please take this time to go back through the boards and save what you want to keep on your own computer. These boards will no longer be accessible after February 28, 2010.

If you would like to ask a question about the new boards, click here: http://boards.history.com/forum/Message-Boards-User/108

There will be more details to come as we roll out the new community software. Thank you for your continued patronage. We'll see you on the new, improved boards!

maybe just a little disappointing..

[nobr]LOVE the show -watched it 4 times between last night & this afternoon- will certainly keep watching - but i felt more could've been discussed on this big cat episode - especially since it is feasible to believe that these "cryptid/monster"s could exist.

There could've been more discussion on melanistic big cats - that are rare anomalies just like an albino.. but still possible, and there are so many more pictures that could've been shown..

The only thing I can think of is maybe the show couldnt track down some of the onwer's of these pics/videos - or maybe greed on the owners part would've stopped the history channel from using the footage..

These 2 pics I want to post are from the NET & have been discussed on other sites.. anyone who loves big cats will love to see them.. I was going to put multiple links from my bookmarks - but just found this posting by the great LOREN COLEMAN, and it contains both of the pics i wanted to show - PLUS another one from a distance, in a cage..

They are SO beautiful!

If any monsterquest "powers that be" are visiting this board - why weren't these melanistic bobcats shown?
More interesting pics;

are you talking about the miracle grow housecat - or the black bobcat? I think the bobcat is SOOOO adorable, wish I could own ANY kind of big cat!

There are a lot of big black cats in our neighborhood , those cats are big , but not big enough to pass as a panther

i didn't think it was confused for a panther - we were just talking about how long a housecat can get- i think they could get 20+ inches long, and was trying to remember what the name of that "big housecat" was..

Sorry , I wasn't implying you meant that , in the show they said a lot of the sightings were simply large house cats

The black cat photos look like just regular sized housecats and the first photo looks doctored. If it's not, then holy crap... that's a big cat. And that last one is freaky too. This is why I'm not a cat person... :)

Bigmouth, I was talking about the bobcat. The rest were cool. Especially that huge housecat. Unlike zacster, I am a cat person. But I agree with zacster on the other photos.

I just found out that melanism is linked to increased immune system function. This would mean that if these animals exist in these areas, they can trade hunting during the day for having a better immune system.

I have a 20 lbs found female cat, she is proportional, not fat. Dr said she's built like a linebacker.

I've seen a cat as large as the top picture. A male with smokey grey fur kind of long. I think if you saw a feral cat with more wild markings that size it could easily be mistaken for an exotic species from a distance.

A linebacker? That's kind of funny.
