French and Indian War

Jun 14, 2006 7:46 AM
I've emailed this show many times to suggest that Gunny do an episode on Rogers Rangers since it was the elite force and fathered such groups as the Army Rangers, the Green Berets, the Navy Seals, to name three.
Nothing.
History Channel seems bent on ignoring this important conflict that shaped our country even when it is celebrating it's 250th Anniversary.
Pretty sad.
History Channel should be ashamed.

I agree 100%....with all the new books out and the realization that the American Revolution was a direct output from the Seven Years War you would think the Hisory Channel would produce some shows...or BBC for that matter. Would not only reach English speaking peoples but French Speaking as well. Seven Years War was the First true World War fought in the Americas, Caribbean, Europe and India, Rogers Rangers is an important part of that conflict but only a small part of a conflict when terrorism was practiced using Native Americans and the role of Naval Forces impacting land battles was huge. The Colonel is right on the money but needs to expand his own perspective. This was a huge war involving intricate European, Native American and American (Canada included)politics.
