Does anyone know if the booty has been recovered?! This episode has got to be at least 20 years old, and the technology today would make it capable of retrieval. I have got to have a recent update, it is eating me alive. Please Help.

To the best of my knowledge, that answer would be NO; due to the nature of the pit itself. But, then again..........! Anchor's Aweigh!! Carry on, SMARTLY!!

I read a book on it a year or two ago, and the impression it gave was that there have been so many bumbling dolts drilling and digging and hacking away in there that the site has been irretrievably destroyed. It's not as though we haven't known how to block sea-water infiltration and pump out such places for more than a century (witness the show the other night on the building of the suspension bridges, with emphasis on the Brooklyn bridge). These guys pretending to be archaeologists evokes images of Jethro Bodine playing at being a "dought-nought spy".

that episode has got to be at least 30 years old, if anyone was going to find whatever was in that pit it would have happened by now.

Tell that to Triton Alliance and Dan Blankenship. As of 2008 they've finally gotten their treasure trove license and they're still looking.

Who ever built the money pit had to have a great deal of know how to build the pit. To guard what ever is down there had to be great to go though all the trouble of doing the pit.
