Ltrazordaddio I think no one is listening to us. I think the only thing they can do is sing the praises of how great (Non) History Hacker is. I have to ask, when these one hit wonders say this show could get them intrested in History, do they mean the channel, or the subject. If it is the channel, the crap reality shows got people intrested in it, but it did not give us any new quality history programs, It just gave us more crap shows.

I don't think they are either, soviet. By "interested in History" I would say they mean the channel- this is what the goal of NON-HISTORY's new management is- to attract a new and younger audience at the expense of alienating the long time loyal viewers- and they have succeeded. The new management had brought "reality" programming to A&E- and I applaud them for the fine job they did, there are many "reality" programs on A&E that I watch and have watched- A&E is the perfect stage for these shows. And when this new management came over to NON-HISTORY, they set about to change something that didn't need changed- that is, changing THC into another A&E. The whole NON-HISTORY prime time schedule would do fine and only enhance the existing A&E line-up- leaving the NON-HISTORY stage open for what it was set up for 13 years ago- "HISTORY". Viewers of these shows so blindly support these shows and insist they are "history" because they have bought into the NON-HISTORY hype of "making history.......", and by endorsing the hype, they give support to the new management's agenda in hopes that the NON-HISTORY gods will in return continue to air their favorite show.

Ltrazordaddio they blindly support these shows, beause they are family friends of somebody on the show, the work in the profession. In the case of the Bre guy, he is someone big in some DIY movement. Also somehow people followed this guy on the internet and found their way here , probably thinks the the previously mentioned links from Bre's blog. Somehow they see me and you as some crazy kooks who will not accept this change for what I guess is better in their eyes. I have said over and over this show"seems like another run of the mill science experiment show." Even used a quote from Bre's website in a previous post. It was quote from the wall street journal which described Bre as "Mr. Rogers, Mr. Wizard and Bill Nye ?The Science Guy? rolled into one." Than I asked the question "So does this mean we need to give Bill Nye a show on the History Channel?" Nobody answered. Instead it was more post about how great (Non) History Hacker was.

I love the idea of combining history with hands-on learning. The show reminds me of a combination of Bill Nye and Mythbusters. Fantastic!

@soviet: > Nobody answered. Thats because people start not to care anymore Guess what: We got your point - you don't like that show on History Channel because you think it's NON-HISTORY. Well, I liked it and I think the History Channel is a great place for it - helps the channel to get something younger people start watching, because the older ones (literally) become extinct. If the show is not for you, fine - you made your point clear enough. Stop wining about these 'one-time-posters'; 250 posts ago you were one of them, too. Thats my third post, Hooray!

Answer this question "So does this mean we need to give Bill Nye a show on the History Channel?" Why or why not?

I thought the show was great. I thought Bre did an excellent job of teaching history and science in an engaging way. The bicycle-gps thing was very cool. I liked the goth style graphics too. If the show gets picked up, I will definitely be a regular viewer.

Consti- the one post wonders never cared to begin with- all they care about is a show that they have a personal, occupational or regional interest in is on TV. How many of the one post wonders do you think will become extinct to NON-HISTORY if Bre is no longer on it ?

"If the show gets picked up, I will definitely be a regular viewer." shovel- If the show gets picked up, will you be a regular viewer of just the show, or a regular viewer of HISTORY ? If the show does not get picked up, will you still be a regular viewer of HISTORY ?

Maybe I am misinformed, but the people in support of this show have failed to explain how some guy making things out of stuff in his closet is History. Could someone please enlighten me. I think I have explained why Bre does not belong on History. Just because you say it is History related does not make it History. So please enlighten me why you consider this show belng related to History. Give me some examples. i will add that not all longtime viewers of this channel are old. I am 29 years old for example.

Ltrazordaddio - Since you appear to be interested in this sort of information, if History Hacker is picked up as a show, I will get history channel, and be a regular viewer of both History Hacker and the History Channel itself, because there isn't much else on TV worth watching. However, without History Hacker there is significantly less incentive for me to even get the History Channel, as I haven't been bombarded with adverts in a few months, so I don't know what's on it. I hope that helps.

I came to the site after watching History Hacker tonight on my TiVo. After doing a search on the site, I came across this forum. After reading, and coming across your post (sovietcollector), I actually had to create an account to respond... Did you watch the show? He talked quite a bit about Tesla, and important figure in history from my perspective, and someone whom a lot of people don't know anything about. I actually found the show really entertaining. Come on, seriously, can you tell me you didn't enjoy watching him make the neon tube? (...and I didn't know Tesla invented that!) Go ahead, call me a "one post wonder." It won't change the fact the show was entertaining, educational, and bridged history and science.

Ok, we are going to go round and round. Bre does seem to have a personality that lend itself to a saturday morning show for kids. If he is going to be on History, he needs to focus a little more on the History side of things. Bre's show seems to be more heavy on being a science show. Also for that matter a program on Tsela, could have gone to ways, serious or garbage like the monster and ufo shows. This channel has the potential to reverse course and stay a history channel, with a few reality shows or become a Discovey 2, with a little history.
