The True Story of Charlie Wilson

I watched "The True Story of Charlie Wilson" on History International yesterday. Given that your motto is
"HISTORY CHANNEL INTERNATIONAL is devoted to international topics and brings viewers a unique, in-depth understanding of the world around them"
I was expecting a more thorough discussion of the aftermath of the Russian invasion of Afghanistan, and how the Taliban and al Qaeda grew out of the wreckage; something more penetrating than the Hollywood movie "Charlie Wilson's War". After all, this is a channel devoted to offering an "in-depth understanding"!
Pathetically, the program devoted only a few sentences to it, concluding with the lame sentence:
"History will show that the evil empire was brought down by a colorful cast of characters led by a hard-drinking, skirt-chasing congressman."
No, sorry, Charlie Wilson was not the primary person responsible for bringing down the Soviet Union!
First rewrite: replace "evil empire" with "World Trade Center" and you have no more of an exaggeration.
Second rewrite: replace "History will show" with "Superficial history will show".
More seriously, try this:
"History will show that the Soviet Union was weakened by the defeat in Afghanistan that Charlie Wilson hastened. But neither Charlie Wilson nor Ronald Reagan deserves most of the credit for the collapse of the 'Evil Empire'. Ultimately it was brought down an inefficient government that was rotten at its core and by its reform-minded leader, Mikhail Gorbachev, who tragically and heroically helped topple it."
