Terrorists aren't evil. THEIR GOD IS EVIL!

Evil people know what is evil and do it anyway. If you think you're doing good, and you're wrong, you're not evil; you're mistaken. People who are willing to kill & die for God are the most sincere people in the world. But they're not good unless their God is good. A good God may tell people to kill evil people, but He will never tell people to kill good people, or innocent people, or people who happen to believe the wrong thing. This perverse idea of God did not start with the Koran, or even with the story of Joshua. It started with the story of Abraham & Isaac.

Abraham supposedly heard a voice from God telling him to sacrifice his son. Of course, the Moslems say it was Ishmael, not Isaac, but that?s beside the theological point. The point is, he heard a voice from God? knows where, telling him to kill his son. Did he check it out with the local priesthood? No. He just assumed it was the god to whom he was accountable, though God as we use the term today wasn?t even imagined in the Bronze Age. And then he did it ? almost. But just as he raised the dagger, God stopped him, congratulated him for passing the test of faith, and promised him reward for obedience.
Message: Obey God, and you will be rewarded.
In fact: Obey what you believe to be the voice of God, and you will be rewarded.
In fact: Obey what you believe to be the voice of God, no matter how insane or immoral those directions may appear, and you will be rewarded.
But now that we have the Word of God written down, such voices in the sky (or head) are generally regarded as unreliable. Now it?s: Obey what you believe your Holy Scriptures are telling you, no matter how insane or immoral those directions may appear, and you will be rewarded.

If we don't learn to interpret our scriptures sensibly, we don't have much chance in the nuclear age.

Yes, I've written a book on it. www.sanityquestpublishing.com

Is G-d evil? Blaming him for our problems is too convenient, when we should be holding ourselves accountable for the suffering we choose to commit and ignore. Go ask a Buddhist.

When G-d made man in his own image, he gave us free will. He doesn't want a mindless race. He wants us to choose (it's reasonable to assume at the very least,) to love one another, and to care for this planet. However, many of us throughout history decided to commit acts of suffering instead of compassion.

There is scripture, and how it has been interpreted, let alone the leadership of a given establishment. Power, in my opinion, is man's greatest weakness. Therefore, what we choose to do with it is our responsibility. If a priest informs his congregation to hijack airplanes and use them as weapons to kill innocent civilians, they are to blame, not G-d. You call the atrocity they committed as mistaken? Perhaps they were people vulnerable to the misuse of power. Blaming G-d for that is irresponsible. Also, not all Muslims are this way. I'm sure a majority of them are some of the most peaceful people on earth. Mass media highlights those select few who commit acts of evil. We all choose whether or not to be rascists.

And, by the way, just because someone first wrote down an idea, does not mean he had the idea first. Remember, before the advent of writing, ideas were passed down orally from generation to generation. If you think they may have gotten it wrong over the years, consider that the elders may have corrected one another in the process. The Torah is an example of a people who meticulously ensure that every copy is exact. They even count the number of words in a given paragraph (hence, that is why those Jews are called Sofers, counters.)

Do you think Hitler was mistaken? He chose to commit suffering, acts of evil upon humanity. And that goes for the hijacker who decided to use an airplane as a guided missile. Also blame the clerics who brainwashed their congregation for doing so (and, from the start, they could have chosen to do something else.)

G-d wants us to not only choose to love him, but to choose to love one another. That, in my opinion, is not evil at all.

I'm not sure that your definition is widely accepted. Most consider Hitler for instance to be evil but there's plenty of evidence he really believed he was doing the right thing.
