Can Soldiers Who Are NOT MOS Qualified Be Activated?

It is my understanding that Army Soldiers can NOT be activated/deployed UNTIL they have become MOS qualified. Can anyone verify this?

As a person with very flat feet and allergies to hay, grass, pollen, etc. and very near-sighted, as a result of the Berlin Crisis I found myself classified 1-A. I enlisted for radar repair. I was at a place with no radar set as the Army was too impoverished to buy equipment. I got out on schedule 3 years later when everyone was being extended for Vietman as there were only 2 guys with my MOS there. So I would say find out what the rules say exactly, then bear in mind that the rules are flimsy. US Navy can get back anyone they want.

Forget it, you can be activated then retrained according to the army's needs. If you enlisted for a school, they can even retrain you the day after you graduate from your school of enlistment.

I've heard to many time that guys went to Vietnam with one MOS and found orders to a different unit and a new MOS when they got there.
