Carbon Scrubbing Farm

Sep 29, 2009 3:22 PM
There is technology to remove CO2 from the atmosphere. Most research is going into sequestering it underground. I think that this can be vented into green houses. I would like to grow rice as it gives off Methane Gas as it grows. I am thinking of capturing the methane gas to use as fuel, automotive and home heating.

Many people say, "What about the carbon footprint of the process itself?" There is no reason to not power it by wind. During the day, there is no reason why our old friend Sol can't lend a hand. I was also thinking of burning the rice husks after harvest, the outgassing going back into the scrubber. The ash from the rice husks would be sold to concrete manufacturers to serve the same purpose as fly ash.

Another power source I have been considering is Magneto Hydro Dynamics (MHD). The way I understand it, is that when a gas is passed through a magnetic field perpendicular to the flow, it generates and electric current.
