Slavery and state's rights was a battle brewing since the founding of the nation. After Lincoln was elected, the South decided to secede. They fired first on Ft. Sumter when Lincoln refused to surrender the fort. The Civil War was inevitable and in some ways necessary. By no means do I give Spike Lee any credit for historical accuracy or intelligent presentation of facts, but watch his Confederate States of America for an amusing look at how things could have turned out.
