Why do I take offense to military phonies?

This is a non-accusatory thread. If you never experienced recruit training or basic training as a cadet, as an enlisted man or as an officer candidate it is hard for you to understand. What we all did, what we all accomplished became a rite of passage. We became members of an elite club. As a Marine, even though I never went to war or overseas, I'm an equal in the Marine Corps family because of my accomplishment of graduating from recruit training, earning the title of "U.S. Marine" and for receiving an honorable discharge. For the rest of my life, I can refer to any battle in the Marine Corps' history and say "we" and "us" and not one single Marine will be offended. When someone claims to be a serviceman or veteran(wartime or peacetime), they steal from us what we rightfully earned. It's no different than a plagarist claiming someone else's work as his own. . -- "a Census taker tried to test me once.......I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti." -Dr. Hannibal Lecter, M.D. "Some people wonder all their lives if they've made a difference. The Marines don't have that problem." -Ronald Reagan, 40th President of the United States

Marine, there is anothe larger reason that has nothing to do with Military but the imposters in general. If someone is pretending to be something they are not, they are a liar. That in itself is an unfavorable trait. Weather that person is pretending to be a vet, a cop a garbage collector, a liar is a liar. I think vets get it more because they are kind of cool and people want to be cool. Or there is a certain perscpective from vets people want to pretend to have. Either way, you should be offended. Im with ya there. Oh, btw, Im an ex-4 star general. -- "Reality has a Liberal bias" -Steven Colbert

People should stop taking everything at face value, and save themselves a great deal of high risk health stress caused by paranoia.

> HR....I recall many comments on this very board that > stated "big deal"...who cares if they say they were > in the military... It's a big deal to me. ...Especially because the vast majority of the liars in question DESPISE the very military they pretend they were or are a part of. Take a look at our impersonators on this Board. That says it all to me. > > But of course the left flipped out about Bush and his > military service... > > Didn't they girl? I didn't "flip out". I just knew a lot of it was B.S., especially where Bush was being called a fighter pilot. Most Air Force people know the difference. I sure do.

Warrior..Just last week MPA said it "what's the big deal" when we talked about phony soldiers. I think it's a big deal to soldiers that actually have fought and are still fighting for this country... It's despictable actually...

The notion that Kerry was a "war hero" really burned the biscuits of a marine friend of mine. He was badly wounded in 2 full tours, yet Kerry is the one with medals aplenty.....but then, Kerry wasn't a marine. Now imagine how we draft dodgers felt about Clinton. We were willing to move to Canada on principal. But Clinton just had some bureaucrat pull some strings to he could avoid the draft without any cost whatsoever. He took no stand, except for convenience.

The notion that ANYBODY who was in the Navy would "burn the biscuits" of a Marine. By the way ,Kerry's decorations were officially upheld by the Department of the Navy as valid. I'm not a supporter. Just stating facts. > > Now imagine how we draft dodgers felt about Clinton. > We were > willing to move to Canada on principal. I don't mind those who didn't serve, or did everything they could to avoid service. Just don't come back when it's over and tell everybody you DID serve, and demand the same respect. THAT'S when I've got something to say (PLENTY to say) about it.

The thing about MPA is tha tin one breath he claims he is th eonly one her who proved his vet status and then in the next after that is shown to be nonsense he claims so what if people make up service it doesn't bother him. The fakes here hav e ahabit of not merely stealing valor but worse to attack real vets for no reason. Red has been using the Velo name to attack real vets liek Pops for instance. He used fake claims to try to embarass Pops, say p[ops doesn't know much about miltiary matters and may be a fake. That is even more annoying and absurd.

>>> By the way, Kerry's decorations were officially upheld by the Department of the Navy as valid. ### I've no argument with that. I simply addressed one marine's disgust with how reality & bureaucracy are at odds. I understand his point of view, just as I understand why some need to view Kerry as a hero. It doesn't affect my vote anyway, since I look only at the candidate's real agenda. >>> I'm not a supporter. Just stating facts. ### Facts are inadequate little things, when they paint an incomplete picture. I don't dispute the legal legitimacy of Kerry's medals, just his unseemly claim to heroics. >>> You know what? I don't mind those who didn't serve, or did everything they could to avoid service. Just don't come back when it's over and tell everybody you DID serve, and demand the same respect. ### Don't lecture me, young man. I am always what I claim to be....which ain't much.

Cheny appears to be a medical disaster, who's exemption was legitimate. I see no subterfuge or false pride from him about this.

I know. I just wanted to feign outrage so that I could call you "young man". You seem a decent thoughtful guy & I've no problem with you.
