Shooting raises fears for Muslims in US army

Nov 7, 2009 3:27 AM
An army major accused of firing on and killing fellow soldiers in Texas is a US-born Muslim.

The reasons for the shooting are not clear, but Major Nidal Malik Hasan was reported to be unhappy at alleged racial abuse he had received.

The BBC's Penny Spiller considers how it may affect the thousands of Muslims in the US military?

Muslims stunned by Fort Hood shooting

Stunned Muslims were trying to understand Friday why a normally soft-spoken Army officer who served on his local mosque's charity committee allegedly fatally shot 13 people at the sprawling Fort Hood military base in Texas.

Bunk!

One need look no further than ANY Muslim country and note the way they treat minorities to know this sort of nonsense is projections and not reality on the ground d in the US.

Fact - in Pakistan, where I am residing, Muslims have burnt to death many Christians in the past few months - INCLUDING CHILDREN - because of a supposed "rumor" about someone - always a minor btw - who reportedly "disrespected" (looked crossed at?) the Koran. In addition to the national sport of burning Christians, Pakistanis have also slaughtered women in the name of "honor" (translation - wanted her property), murdered Shias (prayed to Allah "the wrong way") and are shooting Afghans indiscriminately as "taliban" - that would be the three year old girls.

Any harm happening to Muslims in the US? Even the psychotic Major could only come up with "calling me names". Think Woody Allen in "Annie Hall" and "D'chou".

What you said is a fact. However politicians will always ignore those facts. Then you have to ask yourself a question, who is worse, the executioner who does these crimes or politicians/ignorant people who refuse to see or realize that this is happening. This is not much different situation then prior WWII in Germany and lack of responses from the West.

How does the poor treatment of minorities in other countries mitigate the poor treatment of minorities in the US (if indeed there was poor treatment).

I understand your conclusion ("Bunk" - which I take to mean there is no mistreatment o minorities in the US), and your argument leading to that conclusion.

Actually this will be a matter undertaken by the Inspector General and/or General Accounting Office, to ensure that religious minorities are protected.

My guess is that new rules will be formed to ensure immediate investigations on any reports of religious harassment from Muslims.

The problem will be just as easily solved as it was for Racial discrimination and s-exual harassment.

What paranoid lame excuse would some people be using if an Anglo, claiming to be a Christian, had done the same? And stated he didn't want to be deployed overseas. Because that's what was reported to have been said by the person currently involved.

Something some of you should know. "Allah Akbar" is an Anglo distorted way of saying or writing what no Muslim would state or write the same way. Thus, someone lied when saying that the major screamed "Allah Akbar". I highly suspect that was the Fox Propaganda Machine starting the lying process again.

What you and the Fox Propaganda machine are doing is raising needless fears. You and they appear to be so proud of doing that.
