I watched this exchange on youtube and I don't understand the contention made by Helen or Chip Reid that no one has ever selected who attends a town hall meeting and who gets selected to ask questions. Bush did that routinely. How can they have forgotten so quickly? Also, from little details they got into the audience doesn't sound like they are hand picked by the administration, again the opposite of the Bush administration.

How would you know Bush did it routinely? That is just another DNC talking point. The two reporters are in position to KNOW and they are not right wingers. YOU and I are not in the position to know. Take their world for it. Besides I don't remember Bush having many, if any, town hall meetings. Also, Obama was suppose to be about change, it is amazing how his behavior is justified by him just acting like Bush. -- I would hope that a wise white man with the richness of his experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than any one else who hasn't lived that life.

Why am I not surprised the Left here miss the point entirely. Here we had tankey proclaiming that there was no staging at all of the Town Hall meeting. We have Gibbs saying the same thing. Reporters at the briefing are question this claim and all Gibbs can say is wait until after the event and than ask the question.... How coincidental that the three people in the audience are not from the College that hosted the even and who, according to Gibbs sent out the invites, are 1, A union member , 2, A spokesperson for a political action group favorable to Obama and a member of a sub group of the DNC. This was a completely staged event. With all the questions known and approved before hand. The Left here does not want to admit it which is the point of this discussion.

Nixon never had a townhall meeting. All his "media" events were well choreographed cheerleading sessions. -- "Facts Are Stupid Things" - Ronald Reagan

Honestly PoPs what are they going to say? They are caught dead to rights so their only avenue of escape is say "Bush did it." So now they say they admire Bush so much that Obama emulates him. How freckin' ridiculous is that argument? It is so amazing to watch Obama do exactly what Bush did and the left just looks the other way. Worse yet they act like little Himmlers if anyone point it out to them. -- I would hope that a wise white man with the richness of his experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than any one else who hasn't lived that life.

"How would you know Bush did it routinely?" Um...maybe you got me...I'm just going on eight years of being a citizen under the Bush jr. Presidency. Do I have to go through all of the instances where Bush jr. manipulated the audience the questions, or just a few? "Besides I don't remember Bush having many, if any, town hall meetings." I don't know what Bush called his meetings with the press but they sure were regulated. The Bush team routinely controlled who was allowed entrance to his public appearances.
