4,000 US Marines Invade Taliban Stronghold

In the biggest land and air operation since the Soviets pulled out in 1989, US Marines launched a lightning offensive in the Taliban stronghold of Helmand Valley today.
I hope they are successful with a minimal loss of life.
Here's an excerpt from Reuters.
GARMSIR, Afghanistan (Reuters) – Thousands of U.S. Marines stormed into an Afghan river valley by helicopter and land on Thursday, launching the biggest military offensive of Barack Obama's presidency with an assault deep in Taliban territory.
Operation River Liberty, which the Marines call simply "the decisive op," is intended to seize virtually the entire lower Helmand River valley, heartland of the Taliban insurgency and the world's biggest heroin producing region.
In swiftly seizing the valley, commanders hope to accomplish within hours what NATO troops had failed to achieve over several years, and by doing so turn the tide of a stalemated war in time for an Afghan presidential election in August.
"The intent is to go big, go strong and go fast, and by doing so we are going to save lives on both sides," Brigadier-General Larry Nicholson, commander of the Marines in southern Afghanistan, told his staff before the operation.

I thought Obama was bringin em all home?  Will Obama meet the coffins at the airport, and cry with the families as Bush did?

That's too bad.  I heard he visited some wounded soldiers in the hospital. It only took him a couple minutes to shake all their hands, and give them his beaming smile. He forgot to ask their names and where they were from, I guess he forgot his teleprompter. It's a shame he's so busy with the stuff you mentioned.

Vets are not the ones putting their lives on the line today for you and me. Also, I have no way of confirming what you claim your everyday work is. All I know is that you haven't voiced any support for the Marines now engaged in a critical battle in Afghanistan. That speaks volumes.

Vets needing assistance are vets needing assistance mostly because they did put it all on the line for you and me. Or are you saying they aren't worth helping because they got hurt under someone other than your Messiah?
You said or did nothing to support these wonderful guys and ladies when Bush was CinC.

 ....This coming from the side the wanted our troops to be defeated in Iraq.....That declared the surge a failure before the surge even began...The same side that demanded that returning coffins be publicized...The same side that called our troops murderers, invaders, terrorist....Some how it is now different with them in charge....

Vets need our support, of course. I support our vets. But our troops engaged in active combat need our support, which you still haven't expressed.

Just an observation but this couldn't happen in secret while Bush was in office. A democrat would leak it to the press in order to undermine the mission (They don't call him Leaky Lahey for nothing). There is no need to undermine the mission now that a democrat is in office.
