But what does the mainstream scientific community think of this idea?

Who's the mainstream, what subject, and what schools of thought? Your question seems to ignore the authors' already granted professional standing in their disciplines. Then the "stream"...whatever you mean by that"...who accredits them and associates with them as colleagues. This diversifies into national, regional and even ethnic enclaves of scholars, or those belonging to associations. You'll have to get ahold of them, find out what stream they're in. Television promoted science is more of an entertainment media, it's not considered academia. Regardless, if you're not interested in their content then you shouldn't bother. Find something else that inspires you. -- http://www.freewebs.com/writingindependence/main.htm

Nice way of dodging the question. Would it be accurate to say that these theories haven't been considered plausible in a generation? Or more? And who are these authors? What is their standing?

It's hard to find a well defined "question" in it to dodge. Am I supposed to know what you refer to? If you're interested in these so called 'streams' of influence people inhabit you could consult a guide book, like an academic 'Field and Stream'. I'm interested in their work and what it says. I'm sure they haven't invented concepts like 'upright skeletons' or 'Carolina Bays' or the research they are simply reporting from their extensive sources. See if their sources are in this stream you're after. I have since moved on from trying to prove the authors' personal authenticity--it was established early when I first opened the book years ago and I don't spend my time on 'who's who' kinds of social pecking order concerns. You ask me who these authors are like I'm supposed to have their biography in hand, you need to let me explore this thread I started how I want to. Next you'll want me to check every one of their references--I don't have to, they're not the con men you're trying to make them out to be. You're the one who's dodging this topic subject. Why not start your own thread? That'd be a great idea! Do you have one? -- http://www.freewebs.com/writingindependence/main.htm

You can't seem to comprehend the simplist idea. Let me try to do this in even more simple terms. You have two authors you really like. What are their qualifications? Do they teach? What other books have they written? What was the reaction to their writings by people who actually work in the field? Who is qualified, has independently studied their work, done their own research and come to the same conclusions? The sceientific mainstream is the commonly agreed scientific principles. So if I say the world is round, that's within the mainstream. If you say the world is flat, that is outside the mainstream.

I have gone back 12 pages and looked for CvilleDon under (author)--none. What are you doing here? As to your questions, they are left as an exercise for you. Won't that be a challenge? -- http://www.freewebs.com/writingindependence/main.htm

Seems it's time to investigate your authentic need or interest in conspiracies. I don't see you writing any threads. "Nothing proffered, nothing gained." ______________End of CvilleDon replies from nerdtronic -- http://www.freewebs.com/writingindependence/main.htm

Because when they come up with a preposterous claim (like the core of the earth being ant-matter, a base with a dimensional porthole to Mars, it's an endless list) I point out the flaws in it. > 'cause he walks like a duck...a mallard.
