Lincoln Question

The correct answer is listed as Lincoln freed the slaves. A correction is needed. He only freed the slaves in Confederate States where he had no power. Slavery was still legal in several Northern areas.

[nobr]You're right, but that really set precedent for the nationwide abolition of slavery. This website has more info about the Amancipation Proclamation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emancipation_Proclamation for those who want to learn more.

This topic is one of those that I frequently discuss in my citizenship class in Dallas. Some students who are very knowledgeable about history really raise questions like these about the citizenship test questions and answers, which really makes our classroom more lively!

By the way, I challenge everyone to take this citizenship test with videos to see if you can pass!
