I'm over here in Ireland just after watching the last episode. The program drew attention to the attack on the USS Franklin and how the Enterprise came to the rescue. If I'm correct I believe it was the USS Sante Fe that came to the rescue providing a means of escape for some of Franklins crew and also aided in damage control.

yOU ARE CORRECT. eNTERPRISE WAS ASSIGNED TO PROVIDE COMBAT AIR PATROL OVER fRANKLIN CV-13
24 HRS A DAY WITH OUR DAY AND NIGHT CAPABILITYAND DID SO FOR TWO DAYS THEN CRUISED
WITH HER BACK TO uKITHI FOR OUR REPAIRS TOO.

I knew I was correct because my Uncle was a Water Tender onboard the Santa Fe at the time. If your ever interested in the story read Lucky Lady by Steve Jackson.
I am actually a USN Vet. 88 to 92 aboard the USS Mount Whitney.
