The Miller-Urey Experiment of 1953

Aug 1, 2005 1:41 PM
The concept of the early-life experiment conducted by Stanley Miller and Harold Urey at the University of Chicago in 1953 was simple: create the ideal conditions for an amino acid, a protein building block, to show how life could come about in a "prebiotic soup".

The Miller-Urey experiment was set up to create amino acids. Conditions which geologists now know are not the conditions of the "early earth" were used in the experiment. According to researchers Sidney Fox and Clause Dose, oxygen was present in the environment of the 'early earth', unlike in the Miller-Urey experiment. One of their reasons: the uranite-positive rocks that told scientists of the lack of oxygen in early earth were actually found in the same condition but from a much more recent time period. Also, Miller and Urey flashed simulated lightning at an unrealistic rate through their apparatus. Recent experimentation has shown that, had oxygen been present in the 'early earth' as now thought, amino acids could not have formed.

Darwinism lacks an adequate explanation for life's alleged spontaneous generation on the so-called early earth. The Miller-Urey experiment can no longer be propagated as that explanation.

Nice try! But if you had been paying attention to the most recent papers of the last decade of so, you would know that most theories of the origin of life are leaning towards the view that it first formed around undersea vents. Find details in any respectable bio-chemical journal. Seriously, nice try though.

There is granduer in this view of life, with its several powers, having been originally beathed by the Creator into a few forms or into one; and that, whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been, and are being evolved.
