I am really enjoying watching the show "Ape to Man," but I think the title is incorrect. It should be called from "Ape to Human," so as not to exclude all of the people like me: women.

Actually the title has more problems with it than being sexist. It misconstrues the idea of evolution as an "ape to (hu)man" process, when it is actually that apes (modern apes that is) share a common ancestor. Not that a chimpanzee started walking upright and talking. Don't think of a line with a modern chimp at one end and man at the other. Think of a "Y" with humans and apes at the two top points, and a human/ape ancestor at the bottom.

Personally I should not care for immortality in the least. There is nothing better than oblivion, since in oblivion there is no wish unfulfilled. We had it before we were born, yet did not complain. Sorry for the inconvenience. Could you ask him to stop? -- "It is easy to remove the mind from harping on the lost illusion of immortality. > Orc Hs got nothing to post. Otherwise he gets > humiliated. Orc has plenty to say, and much that I agree with. I have yet to see him "humiliated." I do find that he gets attacked, as in the post above, that aside from a personal attack, is pretty much content-free. This is a lot of the reason I mostly stopped posting here. Not much in the way of real discussion seems to be happening. Many posters here have gone above and beyond the call with their willingness to demonstrate that those who know the least, know it the loudest.

The offense is in your mind. The term man has been for centuries used in both the particular case of males and in the more general case of all humans. I am 55 and grew up with that usage. I do not bend to political correctness. If the term offends you when it was not meant to perhaps you are thin skinned. Trying to make everything into something sexist is ludicrous. What next do we change our history books to talk about pernsonifest destiny or change the title of the Charlton Heston epic to Ben Person -- qui desiderat pacem praeparet bellum

It should be correctly titled "From the Common Ancestor of Ape/Man to Man." Why do the people who produce these shows do the world a great disservice by implying that man evovled from an ape; this gives fuel to the people who are against evolution. The fact that man evolved is not the question; the question is, what did man evolve from? No, not an ape. -- Edited by xxsdesdexx at 02/24/2008 7:43 PM

Dearie, women didn't evolve from ape, only men did. We are created in the image of the God. Seriously, men get into wars and go bananas in them. Women are more civilized and evolved. After seeing Jurassic Fight club, I starting to think Men come from them. I love you,,orc. You can considered me a t- rex who fell into a blender and became your processed meat from The colonial and Ronald.
