I watching tonight's show and this guy is a Jerk. He is verbally abusing his son and he is constantly screaming at the top of his lungs. He has been fined by the DNR because he was operating without any permits or license. He is begging for money on his website for his defense fund. Lol...Haha Karma

I used to like this show...I won't watch it any more with this jerk on there. He has no sense of decency. I won't even support sponsors that advertise on this show, this man has spoiled it so much.

I think the son is extremely brave and stoic but needs to get as far as possible away from idiot father as possible. James, RUN, you deserve respect.

I agree with bs3488. His son seems like a sweet kid and if this guy doesn't lay off of him he is liable to snap and do him in some night while he sleeps. I don't understand parents like that. My dad was sort of that way and it took a lot of years to get over it and now that I am a grown up, NO ONE speaks to me in that manner.

I only switch to NON-HISTORY when AX MEN is on during commercial breaks- I keep a list of those sponsors of this insult so that I don't buy any of what they are selling.

I used to like this show, too. This season, no way. I can't stand to hear this guy swearing and screaming at anyone, let alone his kid. I have absolutely no respect for people like that. I was muting the tv when his portion was on, but am just giving up the show completely. It's not even enjoyable anymore.
Sorry, HC. You have some good shows, including this one, with the exception of this guy.

Did this guy actually tell his son, "Get in here and eat then I am putting you on a bus.", or did I hear that wrong? Has anyone else noticed that this guy has no business driving a boat let alone that big ship he baught.... that is if he ever gets it running. :P

While I don't see what this show has to do with History, I enjoy Ax Men and learning from shows like this about things I would never had known about otherwise. Like most everyone I can't stand watching James being abused by his out of control father, and wish I could have been there when he lost those ten logs - Karma caught up with him!!!! I miss Melvin and Stump Branch.

I agree with everyone here I like watching the show. the father should be taking lots of valume and thorazine cause he really should calm down or have a heartattack one or the other

The heck with all who don't like this guy, he's an old logger that's had a hard life of real work which most of you city slickers don't have a darn clue about. I love this show and since they've joined I spend the evening rolling on the floor laughing. So my hat's off to those guys trying to make a go of this rare type of logging. And for the fines to the DNR, they can go to hell, I can't stand all these granola crunching, no good hippy do-gooders, trying to make life miserable for everyone trying to live a descent life in this once FREE county. God Bless america, and may it someday return!

This guy needs all kind of help. People skills would be the first thing, and then he needs to get a life, and understand that his Son is the real catch here. As for him being a logger. Please,,,I would take offense to him being called a logger, and I have paid my dues, as I know many others have to. If he were to learn some other words of the english language would help too. I think he could rent some descent equipment and make a big difference.

Why does this guy scream constantly at his kid? He gives contradictory instructions or no instructions and then goes ballistic when the poor boy can't read daddy's pea brain. I hope HC doesn't renew this clown for next year. And to the previous poster, I have done logging work and I still think this man is a complete jack***s. He drives a boat worse than I do (and that's saying something), he has ratty equipment and no spare parts on hand, and he takes everything out on his long-suffering son. I hope that boy gets faaaar faaaar away from that old man as soon as possible.
