Dear History members: In February, 2010, History boards will begin the process of upgrading our community message board software. We are moving to a new community software, KickApps, that will provide greater functionality and ease of use. This transition will take place during the last part of February; the last day that the current boards will be available to you will be Feb. 28, 2010. We realize that many of you have posted great content over the years and might want to save your posts. Please take this time to go back through the boards and save what you want to keep on your own computer. These boards will no longer be accessible after February 28, 2010. If you would like to ask a question about the new boards, click here: http://boards.history.com/forum/Message-Boards-User/108 There will be more details to come as we roll out the new community software. Thank you for your continued patronage. We'll see you on the new, improved boards! Rebecca Cooper AETN Community Manager

Hitler and the Nazis made the public playing of atonal music illegal. That means no jazz and no rock.

Its kind of an insult to Rammstein. They are clearly anti-nazi. And Hitler liking Heavy Metal music? He hated everything besides marching music and the occasional german folk tune. But I see what you mean. Watching a Waffen SS video montage on Youtube with Rammstein's "Sonne" as the background music does make ones skin go all goosepimples on ya. regards Jan

Go on You tube and type in "Saving Private Ryan/Platoon videos" and you see a video (titled BANG BANG!) made by a guy who uses combat scenes from SPR and Platoon to the song "Feuer Frei!", great song, when I first watched SPR a few times I thought of that song and it how would make a good metal video using the first 20 minutes of SPR, check it out and tell me what you think. -- Edited by UncleSam at 10/04/2007 9:36 AM

Rammstein is so NOT Nazi! I did read this blog till: "“Du hasst” (You hate)" Everybody knows that the lyrics goes: "Du hast "Du hast "Du hast mich gefragt und ich hab nichts gesagt!" That has nothing to do with "hate"...and I think the rest of the blog is full of the same crap!

I liked this little gem though: "...This point must be made perfectly clear. Rammstein is the inheritor of the German tradition of musical genius. Their rhythmic craftsmanship—unerring and precise—is unmistakably German, as is their intuitive command of musical tension and release. Their bombast, particularly, isreminiscen of Wagner, and so is the music’s eerie hypnotic quality. Carl Orff’s influence may be heard in Rammstein’s use of orchestral arrangements. ... By comparison, American heavy metal bands seem clumsy, childish, and anemic...." E.H. Have you seen his responses on this Current Events thread? LOL. http://boards.historychannel.com/thread.jspa?forumID=600000008&threadID=800025266&messageID=700214051#700214051 -- "But no matter where I am, and whenever I get the chances, I'll be telling you how rotten is this piece of land you call the United States of America." -Li Zhuo Shi "Intelligence is a weapon... which, like Claymore mines, must be pointed in the right direction to be most effective for our side." @E.H. Ever heard the English version? The ambiguous meaning doesn't translate but even Rammstein uses "You Hate" in that version. "Du Hast" and "Du hasst" are not really distinguishable in German. One means "You have" and the other "You hate". Rammstein loves using these tyes of double entendres.

Here I repeat it now again: Germans can very well distinguis between "Du hasst" (You hate) and "Du hast" (You have)...it's ease, really! It's only get difficult if you don't want to listen to the whole sentence...

The admins deleted your reply for some reason. I suppose they don't like me telling the world that they have a number of Nazi admirers participating in this forum. Oh well, what can you do? When the song starts with "Du has(s)t" a native German can't tell the difference whether it is "You have" or "You hate". In any case that is a minor point and there are 40-50 pages of info on Rammstein on the website. A person can take it or leave it as he likes.

No Prob E.H. . I thought you might find them humorous. Most of the really good posts were "poofed" though . LOL -- "But no matter where I am, and whenever I get the chances, I'll be telling you how rotten is this piece of land you call the United States of America." -Li Zhuo Shi "Intelligence is a weapon... which, like Claymore mines, must be pointed in the right direction to be most effective for our side."
