Dear History members: In February, 2010, History boards will begin the process of upgrading our community message board software. We are moving to a new community software, KickApps, that will provide greater functionality and ease of use. This transition will take place during the last part of February; the last day that the current boards will be available to you will be Feb. 28, 2010. We realize that many of you have posted great content over the years and might want to save your posts. Please take this time to go back through the boards and save what you want to keep on your own computer. These boards will no longer be accessible after February 28, 2010. If you would like to ask a question about the new boards, click here: http://boards.history.com/forum/Message-Boards-User/108 There will be more details to come as we roll out the new community software. Thank you for your continued patronage. We'll see you on the new, improved boards! Rebecca Cooper AETN Community Manager

Arnold Schwarzenegger Wears Nazi Buckle
Jun 25, 2007 12:10 PM
|
|
It has been brought to my attention that Arnold Schwarzennegger is pictured on Time Magazine wearing a NAZI belt buckle. It is speculation that this may have belonged to his father who was a member of the SS. Why I haven't heard much about it lately, it was mentioned that Arnold wanted to run for President of the US if the stipulation about being a naturally born citizen was ever changed. I know he has lots of fans because of his movies as well as political fans but it may be time to rethink your opinions about this man. I have heard analysis concerning his buckle and after examination it cannot be denied as the same buckle worn by NAZI's.

I'm no fan of Arnold (politically that is, I like his movies) but what you're doing is really lame, and yes I'm aware of the controversy about his father. Your post has all the credibility as one from Mikeforest or Anne007 or Mario. Back it up.

It's not a Nazi belt buckle it is simply a skull. The speculation it is from people who don't know a thing about Nazi items. That is an American made belt buckle. The skull is not a Nazi one. His father was not a member of the SS he was a member of the Feldgendarmerie, basically military police.

I'd like to see the supposed picture. (If memory serves, Arnold's dad was in the SA not the SS. While both were Nazi organizations, the SA was farther down on the totem pole.) -- * "Just as we must not confuse dissent with disloyalty, we must not confuse disloyalty with dissent." For those who don't know what the buckles look like. http://www.axishistory.com/index.php?id=4543 -- "But no matter where I am, and whenever I get the chances, I'll be telling you how rotten is this piece of land you call the United States of America." -Li Zhuo Shi "Intelligence is a weapon... which, like Claymore mines, must be pointed in the right direction to be most effective for our side." Well he probably has more freedom to wear it in the US than in Germany or Austria. Modern Germany is very much anti-NAZI and does not tolorate Nazism.

It's not a Nazi buckle and could be worn at will in Austria. Both Kao and I posted links to the actual buckles which feature the swastika and Eagle. The totenkopf was a cap device is was not part of the belt buckle.

I looked through that magazine at my barbers and it didn't even catch my eye. And maybe just maybe( I dont know for sure because my computer cant enhance images) but it may just be a belt buckle with a skull on it. Its not an official nazi belt buckle anyway. That belt buckle was not worn by NAZI's.

Looks like this thread was hit for some reason. Justa posted a pic of the Time magazine cover. The belt buckle is NOT a military buckle but is a type that is worn by bikers and on cowboy belts as others have noted. It is not a Nazi or SS skull. It is more like a skull and crossbones with crossed wrenches instead of bones. -- "But no matter where I am, and whenever I get the chances, I'll be telling you how rotten is this piece of land you call the United States of America." -Li Zhuo Shi "Intelligence is a weapon... which, like Claymore mines, must be pointed in the right direction to be most effective for our side."
