Message Boards Announcement
Dear History members:

In February, 2010, History boards will begin the process of upgrading our community message board software. We are moving to a new community software, KickApps, that will provide greater functionality and ease of use. This transition will take place during the last part of February; the last day that the current boards will be available to you will be Feb. 28, 2010.

We realize that many of you have posted great content over the years and might want to save your posts. Please take this time to go back through the boards and save what you want to keep on your own computer. These boards will no longer be accessible after February 28, 2010.

If you would like to ask a question about the new boards, click here: http://boards.history.com/forum/Message-Boards-User/108

There will be more details to come as we roll out the new community software. Thank you for your continued patronage. We'll see you on the new, improved boards!

You don't know much about racing, do you?

Patrick may be an elite driver, but I can't accept the argument that Patrick is better than all of the drivers that she leads in the point standings.

#1 Patrick should only be compared to drivers that are on equivalent (i.e. elite) factory race teams, which is the type of support she enjoys. If you know racing then you know most of the drivers that fill out the field on lesser teams don't have a prayer of winning and they know it. The small fry are just racing for position among their peers. Given the same support that Patrick enjoys many could post equivalent or better results than Patrick.

#2 Also I understand that only ~20 cars even compete every round of the season.

Patrick should be given credit for her podium finishes, which shows she is at least competitive.

Of course not. Her (team) strategy is not to win but to finish and go for the ad space. She makes more money than any of her competitors and has the best funded team and effort.
As with most sports - women are 2nd class athletes. She's being realistic - she can't win on the track but can easily take the money outisde.

Apparently you know nothing of it. Most drivers identify winning as the objective.
Patrick does not - the sport is merely a vehicle for her PR campaign.
By the wya - she's lost 2 more!

Are you as critical of the 30-40 drivers who also lose every week? nah, you're just jealous, right.

7 Danica Patrick 424
8 Scott Sharp 412
9 Buddy Rice 360
10 Tomas Scheckter 357
11 Marco Andretti 350
12 Vitor Meira 334
13 Darren Manning 332
14 A.J. Foyt IV 315
15 Ed Carpenter 309

19 Ryan Hunter-Reay 119

A 2nd place and few 3rd place showings, not bad for a new chassis.

Unless your car makes it to the end of the race it does not mater how fast you go.

Remember her 1st run at Indy failed due to lack of fuel. When the race ended she had enough gas for 1 lap.
If she had continued to use the full race fuel map, she would not have finished the race and would have had a DNF instead.
