Message Boards Announcement
Dear History members:

In February, 2010, History boards will begin the process of upgrading our community message board software. We are moving to a new community software, KickApps, that will provide greater functionality and ease of use. This transition will take place during the last part of February; the last day that the current boards will be available to you will be Feb. 28, 2010.

We realize that many of you have posted great content over the years and might want to save your posts. Please take this time to go back through the boards and save what you want to keep on your own computer. These boards will no longer be accessible after February 28, 2010.

If you would like to ask a question about the new boards, click here: http://boards.history.com/forum/Message-Boards-User/108

There will be more details to come as we roll out the new community software. Thank you for your continued patronage. We'll see you on the new, improved boards!

Great game. I'm on my fourth game. Game three I took over the whole world took a while but it was fun. I'm playing Carthage now and though tough it was fun taking out the Romans. I've just finished off Egypt while building up my armies in Europe for a push into France/Germany etc. Still having a hard time with the controls on the combat screen but still fun.

I've conquered the entire world with all three houses and beaten the game with Carthage and I would definitely say the easiest faction to play with is the Brutii.
If you're the Julii and you fight the Gauls, Britons, Spaniards, etc. you are forced to put money into the settlements to get the territories economies to pay out.
If you're the Scipii you usually head by way of Africa with so few territories spread over large areas its hard to unite an empire.
Obviously, playing as Carthage puts you right next to the Romans and forces you to develope quickly and expand slowly.
If you are the Brutii you can take out weak Greeks and Macedonians who have very valuable cities.
it took me around 300 turns to take over the world with the Brutii (which was my first campaign).

If you go to the faction screen you can click on automanage everything. Then go around your empire and find cities that aren't happy with you and if they are valuable lower the tax rate but if they aren't, move your army outside the city, crank up the taxes and let them rebel. Then take the city back next turn and wxterminate the population (this helps with money and loyalty).
Also I encourage anyone who plays the game to put the maximum amount of soldiers possible in each city so it keeps you from growing to fast, makes your empire almost untouchable, and allows reserves of soldiers for army building.
