Dear History members: In February, 2010, History boards will begin the process of upgrading our community message board software. We are moving to a new community software, KickApps, that will provide greater functionality and ease of use. This transition will take place during the last part of February; the last day that the current boards will be available to you will be Feb. 28, 2010. We realize that many of you have posted great content over the years and might want to save your posts. Please take this time to go back through the boards and save what you want to keep on your own computer. These boards will no longer be accessible after February 28, 2010. If you would like to ask a question about the new boards, click here: http://boards.history.com/forum/Message-Boards-User/108 There will be more details to come as we roll out the new community software. Thank you for your continued patronage. We'll see you on the new, improved boards! Rebecca Cooper AETN Community Manager

Why is it Rusky that Every time you post here it has to somehow involve America/Americans? Do you have some sort of love-a-fair with Us or something? besides who cares if Russia has more nukes (we both have enough to destroy the world so it does not matter). "Yanks" don't like football anyway.

Maybe that's why all of Russia's former "allies" are lining up to join NATO

Rusky... are you serious? People like you who have no factual information to post drive me nuts. Try being civil! Since you asked for this I will be the one to tell you that your country is BROKE! You can not effectively base your economy for the long run on natural resources and since Russia attracts very little foreign direct investment your economy will be spuddering along with your naive hopes of Russia ever amounting to anything! Have some respect when you adress the only world power, we got where we are for a reason.

Dear: As a long-time expert in Russian affairs and language,I do not believe so. What was left of the former USSR todays is under the harsh yoke of Russiaīs organised crime. Would the Russian gangs allow the Commies to return and thus lose their astronomical profits with illegal activities? Never. Communism is a somewhat "moralist" ideology at least as concerns the keeping of law and order and there would be no room for Russian criminals to return in a law-and-order loving USSR. They would face the KGB firing squad and/or would be done away with on charges of conspiring against the Soviet State. Donīt be so much concerned about it. The Commies would wipe out the Russian Mafia as Mussolini wiped the "Cosa Nostra" in his Fascist Italy. Cordially Hamilton Castro Rio de Janeiro - Brazil

You know I have been wondering about the same thing about Russia. It seems like USSR Ideology in way but it is "not" in full force.

Criminality is criminality

Whether it occurs under the guise of government or not. The criminality that occurred under Stalin while he was Il Capo Di Tutti Capi in that neighborhood far exceeds anything done by the current crop of criminals roaming the streets of Moscow. I find the subtle distinction between being tortured and gunned down in an apartment versus being tortured and gunned down in Lubyanka prison something for a Dadist play and not for a serious discussion. Just look at the numbers, the recent growth of our economy is 7.2% per year. Everyone in Europe invests in our oil and gas companies, and once everything is alright with yukos our economy will grow even more rapidly. I will talk about US the i want to talk about it. You got lucky, and like cowards took money from the weak then you had the chance during WW2. I don't like you,i don't like everything you stand for, and i don't like that game you made for homos that bears a name of a man's game, football. Russia will come back, we got enough oil, diamonds, gas, and gold to overflow any market, once all the corrupt politicians go to jail Russia will regain its power.

So, in other words, Russia isn't losing as much money as it used too, and somehow Russia is going to be strong again? According to my Theory of Global Domination, Russia is finished as a world power. And I think that all reasonable people agree with me. Rusky and the rest can argue with me, but it's just wishful thinking. "I plan to live forever. So far, so good." - whisper

You don't read properly do you Time states that the ideology, the things he does is pretty much like the premiers of the former USSR. He realises this works in Russian Society. They have been under autocratic rule for over 1000 years sooooo i would say that putin is doing a good job BUT he don't bring up the ASHES of the USSR. He can't afford to deteriorate the situation with the USsoooo

The only thing I can promise to you, is that we will return. It will be different country, with different name other then CCCP (USSR), with different ideology but it will be more powerful and respectful than before. Through history Russians were always great nation, and even though our country collapsed and had a lot of crisis and was broken; every time we came back against all odd. We will continue to progress. I'm not trying to be a smart-ass who is talking bull, just give us little time and you will see.
