Try Cape May, NJ! It is full of documented and undocumented hauntings. It has been a sea side resort since the Lenape Indians.

I know of a haunted house in Flat Rock, MI. If I were a guy, I wouldn't go anywhere near that house, especially at night. Men and young men wind-up dead, hanging from the big tree in the front, headless. Almost every Michigander knows the story. It dates back to the early 1900's.

hey my grandmother used to have a house just on the greenbelt in Ottawa ontario canada. i used to like the house until just last year. on one occasion i was in the hallway and i saw a door close in front of my eyes, on another occasion i was following my dad down to the basement were the washing machine's were and i had a sudden urge to turn around. so i did, what i saw still scares me. i saw a black blur in the figure of a man go out the back door witch is right in the kitchen by the steps to the kitchen the door partly closed behind the thing i didn't see what it was though because it went soo fast. there is even a light in a room that turns on all the time you have to go and turn it off! it gets annoying. i am only 11 but i have had lots of ghostly experiences so if you want to hear about them e-mail me at Princesstammy43@aol.com make the subject ghost stories. i am very interested in ghosts so feel free to tell me about your experiences. thankyou and please e-mail me.

Well, supposedly one of the most haunted places is the Whaley House in Old Town San Diego. It is listed by the U.S.Dept. of Commerce as an authentically documented haunted house. We went there last summer when we were in SD. I didn't see any ghosts, but there is a curtain up in one of the bedrooms which I saw moving and there was no breeze or open window. The doors to all the upstairs rooms are sealed off with glass, so visitors are not able to enter them. The docents said that the moving curtain is a very common occurrence. It's hard to explain the way that curtain was moving-- not at all like a breeze blowing, but like it was stiffly ironed and was being moved uniformly all at once--not rippling as would normally happen in a natural way...don't know if that makes sense...it was very strange to see a curtain move like that. Many tourist visitors to that house have been pinched or their shoulders tapped when no one was behind them, and lots of people have heard whispering above their head or behind them.

Well if you go just about anywhere in Hollywood you'll find a ghost.

Probably the most unusual place is Disneyland. One of my co-workers is clairvoyant and told me there are 3 distinct presences that occupy New Orleans Square. She says the two are transplants (originally from New Orleans who stay in the Disneyland version because it's comforting (?)) and one may be an old castmember - as she's seen wearing what may be an old New Orleans Square costume.
There's a little boy haunting the exit to (what else) the Haunted Mansion. It was his favorite attraction and he used to go on it several times a visit. He died young, and his family sprinkled some of his ashes while on the attraction. Now he appears in the exit ways crying, and when you go to find help - he disappears.

Try reading "Mouse Tales" for some other fun stuff...

My grandma's house in prince george's county, Maryland. The story i heard was from a believable eyewitness (my grandma, which i have never heard lie).OK. In the late 70s(?) My grandma and grandpa were watching TV in their living room when they saw a teenager walking through the family room. They first thought it was my mom, but then realized it wasn't. The girl looked real (not transparent) except for the fact she was wearing ancient clothes (the type they wore in the 1800s). She was heading towards my uncles room. My grandma didn't feel scared, as if the ghost was kind and welcoming. The next morning, my uncle told of a dream he had the last night. He dreamed a girl wearing an old fashioned nightgown walked in his room and sat on his sofa. He described the girl- a discription of the girl my grandma saw the night before. It gets stranger. According to the previous owner, she saw a girl wearing an old fashioned nightgown sitting in a tree. It sounds like a real story to me. I've always been perplexed at the story.

New Orleans is really haunted and so is Salem. I think almost every city has some kind of haunting. Even Oshkosh WI(that is pretty small) is haunted. Once at this little cafe downtown all these people died in a fire and when you walk in there you get this chill up your spine and all of the sudden on the hottest of the all the days you are REALLY cold and you just feel weird in there. It is really creepy!!!

There is a cemetary in Iowa City, IA where a white marble statue of an angel turns black - all except the eyes. They keep sanding the black out but it always turns to black, they say it's because the statue fell over once and killed a young woman...I've seen it during the day time and all I can say is you couldn't pay me to go at night.

I live in Western PA, there are allot of stories about places here. There are so many old buidlings and places here.

There is the menonite cemetary in Harmony, PA. It is a really bazaar place. The Harmony Inn in Harmony, PA. I had a freaky experiece there along with allot of people who have went their.

In Butler, PA there is the Lowery Shaw house. It was the home of a senator at one time. It sets just behind the county courthouse. Supposably a contractor killed their maid. They found her body about a hundred years later in the floor boards of the Lowery Shaw house as well as her cat. The worker who is blamed for the killing a few months later fell from a latter installing windows in the courthouse. It is a really erie place. Odd thing is everytime they fix the clock in the clock tour a few days later it stops.

McConnells mills is another weird location. There have been allot of tragic deaths their. According to local stories there were some executions their as well. The weirdest spot is called Hells Hallow falls. It is the spot that the executions were said to have happened.

Conneaut Lake Park and it's hotel has many ghost stories too. http://www.conneautlakepark.com/
This is a odd place too. It is a wonderful place to go but it almost feels like the past and the present are all happning at the same time. There are allot of ghost sighting. They have one ghost that is the most known. Her name is Elizabeth according to the story and she died in a fire. Every year they have a paranormal fair at the park since the stories have become more and more popular.

Christine Renee, I live in Western PA too.

McConnells mills is creepy, and it's had it's share of accidents this year too. I've never heard about the executions please enlighten me.

There's also some great stories about the city of Pittsburgh.

There's one about I believe the Steel building on Grant St. where a highland soldier was decapitated during Pontiac's war.

One of the floors in the cathedral of learning is supposedly haunted.

The Aviary is located in Allegheny Commons (aka West Park), during the civil war that area was used as a northern prisoner camp. People have reported guards marching around the aviary.

The old mansion near Allegheny Commons that are used as part of Community College are supposedly haunted, people see the ghost of a maid who hung herself and the baby who died while in her care.

I went to college in Western PA, there were a great deal of stories about our campus too.

All this said, I'd have to say that Charleston, SC or Gettysburg have the best local stories.

P.S. The Harmony Inn is a restaurant too right? I think it's the one I've been trying to talk my husband into going to after golfing at Strawberry Ridge.
