Which Democratic contender will face President George W. Bush in the upcoming presidential election?
On Monday, January 19, 2004, Senator John Kerry claimed a surprising victory in the Iowa Democratic caucuses. Senator John Edwards also did well, placing second ahead of previous front-runner Governor Howard Dean. Governor Dean and Congressman Richard Gephardt both had disappointing showings. Congressman Gephardt withdrew from the race as a result of his 4th place finish.
